Gingrich says Palin will not be the future GOP leader

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.

Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.

But Gingrich, an architect of the Republican revolution of 1994, took Palin down a notch, asserting that she would not become the party’s leader, as some have predicted.

“I think that she is going to be a significant player,” said Gingrich during an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation”. “But she’s going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. She’s not going to be the de facto leader.”

I just took a better look at the article and realize that Newt's making 2012 predictions, not RNC chair.

What a stupid blowhard.

It appears that old Newt has whored himself out to the dark side again or he is pimping for the darkside whores.

Hard to tell with Newt since he got bounced out of office.

I hit your name by mistake—got Mississippi mixed up with MNMike, sorry. But it was really posted to all who still are wondering sadly how the Rep Party got hijacked.

Same way the country got hijacked: We were like frogs in slowly heating water as RINOs and spineless, self-serving politicians moved into the party one by one.

If the republican party expects to have a future, it better do everything to guarantee that Gingrich’s future is behind him. He had his shot and shot his wad.

So, she is giving them back their money.

No, she didn't. The money came from the oil companies, and if they were overcharged (i.e. if the state has a surplus after paying for its legitimate expenses), it should have been refunded to them.

Sounds like ownership of property to me. You would prefer that the Government owns it rather than the people?

I’d like to keep Newt around just for his ability to create political ideas. Newt can come up with more ideas in five minutes than the rest of the Republican Party can generate in five days. Some of Newt’s ideas are good ones, too.
