Gingrich says Palin will not be the future GOP leader

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.

Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.

But Gingrich, an architect of the Republican revolution of 1994, took Palin down a notch, asserting that she would not become the party’s leader, as some have predicted.

“I think that she is going to be a significant player,” said Gingrich during an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation”. “But she’s going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. She’s not going to be the de facto leader.”

Redistribution of taxes? What are you talking about in specific.

Takes should be collected by government and spent by government, this is a power given to Congress in the Constitution. How is that not conservative?

How many times do you have to be knocked down to get the GOP’s message? They are very nearly joined at the hip to the Dem Party & kissing @$$ shamelessly. The last thing they want are conservatives. No right wingers need apply. You can send the skunks money if you’re foolish enough, or if you have any to burn when they get thru with you. And me, and the rest of us who thought we had leaders who cared about the law. We are on our own and had better get organised—Sarah could be our de facto leader!

Better if a pudgy old adulterer be the leader?

When you start collecting taxes and handing out checks to individuals that is redistrtionbution. You know spreading the wealth around.

The other Republican governors are just jealous. Maybe they are the problem. Anyone who goes against Sarah is a RINO and needs kicked to the curb.

Say no to Jindal. He looks like a little kid.

The rest of them..Pawlenty, haha. Rick Perry from Texas ? Enough Texas. and NO MORE SOUTHERN WHITE GUYS for awhile.

There. The nomination belongs to Sarah if she wants it. and we need to make sure to steam roll her a path.

Get lost. You are not fooling anybody. I have no idea what your agenda is. But it takes a remarkable lack of vision.

Alaska collected an estimated $6 billion from the new tax during the fiscal year that ended June 30, according to the Alaska Oil and Gas Association. That helped push the state's total oil revenue — from new and existing taxes, as well as royalties — to more than $10 billion, double the amount received last year.

While many other states are confronting big budget deficits because of the troubled economy, Alaska officials are in the enviable position of exploring new ways to spend the state's multibillion-dollar budget surplus.

Some of that new cash will end up in the wallets of Alaska's residents.

Palin's administration last week gained legislative approval for a special $1,200 payment to every Alaskan to help cope with gas prices, which are among the highest in the country.

Palin dominated media coverage at the Republican Governors Association meeting in Miami last week. She grabbed the spotlight at a Thursday press conference, answering reporters’ questions while a dozen other GOP governors stood awkwardly behind her on stage.
Crowds of reporters and cameras chased Palin in Miami while ignoring more experienced colleagues from other states.

And the old guard, regardless of qualifications, is a tad jealous.

But Gingrich on Sunday sought to divert some media attention away from Palin and to other governors such as Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and Utah Gov. John Huntsman (R).

Translation: 'We have our guys picked out nd she was supposed to bomb, not be at the forefront of a conservative revolution within the party...'

Okay, good that the pubbies have finally decided it is time to groom some folks for the job, but it was the element of surprise that kept the minions and mouthpieces of DUH1 scrambling to find a speck of dirt on Governor Palin, and her willingness to walk the walk, not just talk the talk that has led her this far.

Newt should realize that all the grooming in Christendom won't put a high shine on any candidate who isn't qualified and who can't capture the enthusiasm of the base.

Gov. Palin was the reason that the ticket did as well as it did, and kept it from being a total disaster.
