Remarks against Obama probed
Durham police conducting internal investigation; chief says it wasn't a slur

DURHAM - Derogatory remarks toward President-elect Barack Obama made on a social networking Web site are now the subject of an internal police investigation. A police department employee claims the statements were made on the MySpace pages of two Durham officers.

"There's no exact words that were said," said Police Chief Jose L. Lopez Sr. in a telephone interview Wednesday from San Diego, where he is attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference. "It wasn't a racial slur, but we're still investigating it."....................

This was strange:

and then this:

“Bonfield added that if the allegations are found to be true and officers posted racially charged statements, then an appropriate response by the department would be warranted.”

So which is it? First they say ‘no exact words were said’...then ‘no racist slur said’..then said the allegations were that they made ‘racially charged statements’!!

hmmmmm.....color me confused. Was it a racist THOUGHT? LOL

Which brings up a very good point- As many of you know, certain keywords are flagged already by our government, and now that Barack, a black man is in office, you can bet that the government will be scrutinizing certain keywords much more closely and over-reacting, so it would be prudent on our parts to refrain from venting too carelessly and to be careful how we phrase things, as I’m sure FR is being watched pretty closely by hte Nazis, err I mean ‘patriots’ under Barack (His ‘civilian Security detail).

I always heard that the purpose of the 2nd was to protect the 1st....

The department's code of conduct, under the heading "private life," states that an officer's "character and conduct while off duty must always be exemplary, thus maintaining a position of respect in the community in which he or she lives and serves. The officer's personal behavior must be beyond reproach."

This code of conduct is so broad that it basically means that the department can come down on any officer at any time over anything. Giving this kind of a tool to PC thugs is just asking for trouble.
