Karpinski, accent on "Karp"...

She's now on tour for the moonbats.

I served approximately 10 years in the ARMY. I have seen people get promoted because they were having a relationship with the first sergeant and after I got out they got married. I have seen people fast tracked to E-5 who shortly afterwards blew up a teller machine with C-4. I have seen leadership give orders to clean up a motorpool without giving keys to the conexes and without giving brooms and other items needed to do the job. I have seen troops injured (traumatic brain injury) while most of the leadership did nothing. I have seen article 15's given to troops after having traumatic brain injuries for failure to follow unlawful orders. The list goes on and on.

If you have served any length of time in the military, then you have seen your fair share of incompetent leadership too.

I think echoes of this experience are translating onto this General, however qualified or not qualified she may be to receive this promotion.

Who’s to say she isn’t the most qualified?

Therein lies the whole problem with Affirmative Action, Title IX, and all those other silly sexist and racist programs that unfairly promote unqualified candidates.

“I just have one question. Does Free Republic support our men and women in uniform, or not? Based on the replies to this thread, I think not. What say you?”

Oh, give it a rest. You’ve been on FR for five years now. surely you know the good folks here absolutely do support our military. If not, then you’ve then you haven’t paid much attention. There are many, many patriots on this board.

No, I really didn’t expect to get the juvenile responses I got. I posted this thread at FR, because I expected a positive response. I didn’t expect anyone to act like this was DU. I thought the majority of those kind of people were purged long ago. I’ve been more than surprised. Frankly, I’m shocked. I honestly didn’t know we had so many FReepers who put their own gender related dysfunctions ahead of support for our troops.

I’d like to know what kind of life experience causes a person to believe that an erect penis matters more than sacrifice and accomplishments. That doesn’t come from military experience. When you have a job to do, and lives are on the line, you don’t obsess over prepubescent fantasies. You only care that the job gets done, and done right.

LOGISTICS???????

Without logistics how do you think your TOW missile got to you, never mind your chow, your bullets, your water, and everything else you used on a daily basis? It's not a small job, and overseeing the entire supply needs of the army is certainly a 4 star job.

Yes, I know the good folks support the troops. I also know not all folks are good, as evidenced by some of the remarks on this thread. I was hoping JR would step in, and remind them of just where FR stands.

See, there you go again with a thoroughly sexist post, that’s not even close to factual.

I think your post is a perfect example of penis envy.

You are happy a female was appointed. Others who care about the troops (and not just the fact a female was appointed) quesion EVERYONE who is appointed to such a post, regardless of gender.

Tell you what, when you settle down, and can avoid blatantly sexist remarks, and are willing to use facts to discuss this, we can carry forth, k?

Logistics isn't generally a career path to a 4th star. Maybe something else is in play? Hmmm.

I'm sure that would come as a hell of a surprise to all the other 4 stars that ran the Material Command over the years.

In other words, you agree with the sexist remarks about her lack of a penis, and you find my objection to those sexist remarks to be sexist. Thank you for your input.

Questioning top brass qualifications DOES NOT equate to not supporting the troops, quite the opposite, actually. We only want the best. You, on the other hand, only seem to want a female, regardless of qualification, which is DEFINITELY NOT supporting the troops.

Go check out the west point blogs on this. See what they think.

He husband is a retired AIR FORCE colonel. Must be some interesting dinner conversations....

The first female Marine lieutenant general, Carol Mutter, was married to a fellow marine officer who peaked out at lieutenant colonel. They were both stationed together at the DFAS center in Kansas City when bother were majors or lieutenant colonels. People referred to them as He-Mutter and She-Mutter to differentiate them. Not to their faces, of course.

Wow, sleaze is now a legitimate debate tactic? I said no such thing. I didn't expect you'd have to resort to being a frickin LIAR on top of being blatantly sexist to promote your point of view.

You now DEFINITELY owe me that apology.

That reminds me of a scene from M*A*S*H:

Hawkeye: He’s from the other side.
Radar: The other side of what?
Hawkeye: The other side of the war - the enemy.
Radar: Oh, you mean Supply!
Hawkeye: No, I mean he’s North Korean!

See, you still haven’t calmed down. AND, you are claiming I have said stuff i have not. Not exactly classy, nor a sign of one who is interested in debating fairly.

You can owe me, it’s OK, people who lack debate skills and the footing of being correct generally don’t apologize, and don’t recognize the need to.

I visited the reconstructed ruins of Fort La Union, a national monument on the Santa Fe Trail near Las Vegas NM. It was a huge fort and supply base with big warehouses and shops. It served everything to the west.

The U.S. Army has been in the heavy duty logistics business since the very beginning. The Army logisticians conquered the western frontier.
