WASHINGTON (AP) From its humble beginning 33 years ago at Fort Sill, Okla., the career of Ann E. Dunwoody is ascending to a peak never before reached by a woman in the U.S. military: four-star general. At a Pentagon promotion ceremony Friday, Dunwoody was adding a fourth star and later, at Fort Belvoir, Va., her birthplace being sworn in as commander of the Army Materiel Command, responsible for equipping, outfitting and arming all soldiers. Just five months ago, she became the first female deputy commander there.

If she’s good at managing logistics, then this is excellent news.

Old news, but still good. She comes from a very long line military family, and it’s amazing she got to four star through only logistics.
To: BykrBayb
Hope she does better than the 1 Star that screwed up that Baghdad prison.

I’m a former Marine (enlisted). 1981-1985. TOW missiles, Beirut in ‘83. So I was never an officer or anything, but before you get that 4th star, hadn’t you better conquer Europe or Asia or something? LOGISTICS???????

The ceremony was today. And if it’s old news, why couldn’t I find anything when I searched?

OK...I'm waiting for the Palin-bashers to move over to this woman and start on her.....***crickets***
I would think that the government spent much more to train and outfit this woman than $150,000. Where's the scandal mongers?
Oh well...

Yeah, you missed that "never been in a firefight" thingy that mos military people may think is one of the things on the list of things to have checked-off before they put too many stars on you.
Not that there haven'y been plenty of male pogues promoted way beyond their ability and experience.

You already know the answer. She’s not a man, and there is a sizable contingent here that still cannot deal with the notion of women soldiers. Much less leaders.
