SNIPPET: "A French couple arrested in connection with a series of anarchist attacks on the country's rail network have been linked by the FBI to a bomb attack in New York."
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "French anti-terrorist police are holding 10 alleged members of a violent anarchist movement suspected of sabotaging power cables on high speed TGV train lines.
But it now transpires that the alleged culprits were netted thanks to information from the FBI, which allegedly linked two of them to the home-made bomb attack on an army recruitment centre in New York's Times Square in March.
Julien Coupat, 34, the suspected head of the "anarcho-autonomist" group, and his 25-year old girlfriend, known only as Yldune L, were stopped allegedly trying to enter Canada from the US illegally in January. It was claimed they were carrying anarchist texts in English and photos of an army recruitment centre in New York.
Although they had left the US before the bomb attack, they had allegedly been spotted shortly before at American anarchist meetings in New York. Tipped off by the FBI, France's domestic intelligence services and anti-terrorist police had been watching them for months in a tiny village in the Corrèze region, central France."

I bet Barack Obama is friends with them. They’re his type of people. And by that I mean terrorists.
ping
I was thinking along those lines...tired mind I guess...wondering if Ayers is going to or has written about this group.
I’ve never understood “anarchists.” What is their goal?
They can’t really want the breakdown of society, ‘cause none of them are suited to be anything more than parasites.
OPINION:
Generally speaking they are about chaos, terrorism, breaking things, hurting people... anarchists are about destroying and terrorism.
I've encountered a handful of anarchists when we were FReeping anti-war marches back in '03.
The impression I got as to what their goals are, since they tend to be mostly clueless individuals, was...
"I'm an anarchist because it makes me cool and so unique and rebellious and now all those people who laughed at me in school will be sooooo jealous of how cool I am."
I think that’s about it. Interestingly, anarchists have frequently been used as the sort of leading wedge by Communists - who then get rid of them once they take power. This happened in Russia and even in Spain in the 1930s.
Anarchists in Spain had been responsible for many political assassinations, destruction of churches, bloody attacks on nuns and priests, etc. and created chaos in the parts of Spain where they were active. They then fought alongside the Communists. However, in those parts of Spain where the Communists got power (Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, etc.), the Communists turned around and immediately killed the anarchists. They were considered too “politically immature,” unreliable and unmanageable.
That’s a good analysis livius.
In today’s world, I believe that anarchists and gang bangers like MS13 may at times be useful idiots for other terror-related groups.
Yeah, they think they’re the bee’s knees until they’re hanging from a gibbet.
Yes, the “useful idiots” of the Left.
Had an occasion to discuss the future with a self-proclaimed anarchist at a party. Knowing his leanings before hand (how could I not, he practically shouted them from the rooftops every chance he could) I waxed poetic about MY visions of an anarchic future which was something taken straight from all of the Mad Max films I'd seen. I ended my reverie with, "but all I know is, I'll finally get to kill people..."
The look on Anarchy boy's face was priceless. He said, "But that's not what's supposed to happen in Anarchy -- no one will be mean to each other..." he looked as if someone had just strangled his puppy. "That shouldn't happen in my anarchy."
I smiled, "It's what will happen in MY anarchy."
Honestly, I think a lot of these folks have this warm, fuzzy idea of just not having to follow rules. That we'll all share our raisins and our weed and it will be like some big Dead show. We'd all be happy and free if we just didn't have to follow those mean, nasty rules... or something. At least that's what my Anarchist thought, and he could have been just particularly stupid.
He's now married, the father of a beautiful toddler and an adjunct professor at some small college in Boston -- and I don't think he's so much of an anarchist these days.
“...Generally speaking they are about chaos, terrorism, breaking things, hurting people... anarchists are about destroying and terrorism....”
Law of the jungle; only the strong survive; no gods, no governments; in short: They are fools.
But he is teaching our children to be anarchists, or leftists at best.
“...They are fools.”
Yep.
In college I knew a couple who styled themselves ‘anarchists’ and kept waiting for ‘the revolution’, talking about it ad nauseum. Funny, both of them were from extremely well connected, wealthy families in which the father either owned a thoroughbred farm or was an attorney.
I’d be willing to bet they’re enjoying their middle age in high style, just like Ayers, and reminiscing about the ‘good ole days’ while sipping vintage wines and soaking in the hot tub.
Well now, that was unexpected.
Yes, it seems like it has been global clean up lately.
