Yes, he can orate. But so could Linda Lovelace.

There was also a fellow in Europe back in the 1930's who was, by all accounts, a pretty good orator.

I took a class where one of Hitler’s speeches was played as an example of how an inspiring speaker can motivate, even when not speaking and understandable language.

The prof, when it was over, breathlessly said, “THAT’S charisma!”

True story - I was working at an appliance repair facility that same semester. I recognized the prof when he brought in his VCR with a “stuck tape”. He came back in 20 minutes asking if they’d gotten the tape unstuck. The techs, being curious, waited until he left and fixed it, and of course, looked at what was on the tape that was so important - gay porn.

What will happen when the unintended consequences hit? F.A. Hayek warned that a government serious about enacting its economic plan must be prepared to use heavy-handed measures. Is that what we want?

During the campaign, obama spoke of 'failed economic policies' or 'failed Bush economy' or some such, until the brain wanted to shut off. Then I caught him saying 'Failed economic system' and I started paying attention again. They did promise to transform the nation, and them's pretty ambitious words.

Obama is an extraordinarily talented man.

I see a lot of disagreement with the author on this point. I would not misunderestimate BO or his clique. they are dangerous to the economy and to liberty. He did make it to president, after all. I do take what they say and what they do at face value, and then plan from there. Stossel has a great post here, every point is dead right.

Has anyone read the threads here about Ericksonian hypnosis and BO? I wondered why he spoke so slowly, with so many pauses. It explains a lot. The masses seem to be mesmerized by this empty rhetoric. God help us.

...no withholding.

If I could repeal just ONE tax law, it would be withholding. The feds could set the rate at anything they pleased, and I wouldn't kick, if only people had to write the damn check themselves. I'd just stand by the 14th Street bridge selling pitchforks.

If there is any statement that provokes a more derisory laugh out of me, it is the idea that Obama can “fix” the economy. He can no more fix the economy than your dog can build your rec room. Unfortunately Democrats and millions of gullible Americans believe government can fix free-market economies. They’ll fix it like Castro fixed Cuba. Cuba went from being the number economy in Latin America to being presently slightly ahead of Haiti.

Come on. Barry Obambi has a rare talent for lying, covering up, attracting all sorts of support from terrorists the world over and getting unconstitutionally elected to the presidency of the United States. Now that is extraordinary talent.

The Road to Serfdom by F.A. Hayek is one of the most awesome books I've read. I'm rereading it now. I'm on the chapter called "WHO, WHOM?" This book is so completely up to date and right on about Marxists like Barry O.

Hayek quoted John Stuart Mill:
"A fixed rule, like that of equality, might be acquiesced in, and so might chance, or an external necessity; but that a handful of human beings should weigh everybody in the balance, and give more to one and less to another at their sole pleasure and judgement, would not be borne unless from persons believed to be more than men, and backed by supernatural terrors."
So, I wonder what kind of supernatural terrors Barry O is going to try to manifest to get everyone in line.

Unfortunately, this is no longer the question. That question was answered Tuesday, Nov 4th.
