WASHINGTON -- President-elect Barack Obama's advisers are quietly crafting a proposal to ship dozens, if not hundreds, of imprisoned terrorism suspects to the United States to face criminal trials, a plan that would make good on his promise to close the Guantanamo Bay prison but could require creation of a controversial new system of justice.
During his campaign, Obama described Guantanamo as a "sad chapter in American history" and has said generally that the U.S. legal system is equipped to handle the detainees. But he has offered few details on what he planned to do once the facility is closed.
Under plans being put together in Obama's camp, some detainees would be released and many others would be prosecuted in U.S. criminal courts.
...
Laurence Tribe, a Harvard law professor and Obama legal adviser, said discussions about plans for Guantanamo had been "theoretical" before the election but would quickly become very focused because closing the prison is a top priority. Bringing the detainees to the United States will be controversial, he said, but could be accomplished.

You know, I was thinking about scotus appointees. I'm not sure that swapping Tribe for, say,
Stevens would necessarily be awful. Wouldn't be better, but..
..just a working theory.

All Americans are a part of the "we". Americans voted in Obama. American citizens, all of whom had a God given right to choose their next president and most of whom chose a man who is likely to destroy this country and everything that was good about it.
I am a part of the "we". All of us are. We are all in some measure responsible, because we are all Americans.
Now the question is what are we going to do now? Are we going to sit still, or are we going to take a stand? You sound like some kind of communist.
You would be way closer to the truth if you included the devastating effect that Acorn had on our voting totals, not to mention the political machinations of both party's ensconced all powerful. I had no say in certain states running their primaries so early, did you?
We are not responsible for Obama's election, only those who voted him in, whether it took one vote or more, are.
We all do suffer the consequences.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can not make him drink.

Barack Obama attended an Islamic school growing up in Indonesia and his father was a Muslim.
Obama's experience within Islam as a boy should give him a unique perspective into Islam unlike any other U.S. President.
How do you feel the election of Barack Obama will impact Islam in America?

Bring them onto US territory, find them not guilty if the evidence does not meet court standards for a jury of their peers, and then release them here because their own countries won’t take terrorists ... why does this seem exactly like what I’d expect from the Affirmative Action President?

We never stood a chance. Republicans only get to vote once, while Democrats can vote as often as they want.

Putin seems to be looking forward to this chance to make the former Soviet Union look ascendant over the United States. Hopefully, Obama won’t be so totally incompetent as to let it get out of hand. However, I have a feeling it will, one way or the otehr.

There is no “invisible” Constitution. Amy of our most cherished beliefs about our Constitution are confirmed, BY THE MEN WHO WROTE IT, in the Federalist papers. Tribe is an idiot worthy of Obama.
