"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we'll see the president do that," Podesta said. "I think that he feels like he has a real mandate for change. We need to get off the course that the Bush administration has set."
Executive orders "have the power of law and they can cover just about anything," Tobias said in a telephone interview.
On drilling, the federal Bureau of Land Management is opening about 360,000 acres of public land in Utah to oil and gas drilling. Bush administration officials argue that the drilling will not harm sensitive areas; environmentalists oppose it.
"They want to have oil and gas drilling in some of the most sensitive, fragile lands in Utah," Podesta said. "I think that's a mistake."

Mein fuhrer!
Picking up where Bubba Clinton left off, I see. Tell me why we need Congress, again?? And, why aren't the Dems threatening Obama like they did Bush??
Oh, silly me, that's right, he's THEIR guy!!!
Seems like Utah’s Governor needs to excercise some executive power of it’s own, a preemptive strike, with a states rights case ALL ready to go.
I figure that by this time next year, some of the lights'll be turning on.
“Obama is gonna love the Patriot Act”——
too bad Bush didn’t have the foresight to see what might be the afterlife of the Patriot Act, which you’re suggesting might now be expanded to include those people, like us, who are critical of the President. Of course, that’s in effect the way the Left demagogued the meaning and purpose of the PA from the beginning, as nothing more than a veiled attempt to consolidate Bush’s power, when it was in fact what they would do with a Patriot Act, had they been the ones to formulate it. Now they will inherit it, and start going after US, who are then lumped in with the (non-existent, of course) Islamic terrorists the PA was all about. Funny how things work out. They might just go that far, it all depends of how they perceive the criticism that will come Obama’s way over a whole variety of other issues, like maybe the multitude of basic ones that got overlooked and wound up having no effect on keeping him from getting elected in the first place.
We won’t deserve it but everybody that voted for him will deserve the $7.00/gallon gas that’s coming.
If we still have a country when this obamination is over, the Rats will say “we were just taking orders”
Gas prices will be the least of our problems.

The tyranny begins...
I smell a revolution in the air, and it is not going to be a peaceful one. Arm yourself and stock up on can goods while you still can.
Could Bush issue an executive order rescinding the Act?
I’LL USE MY PHONE, E-MAILS AND LETTERS FOR IMMEDIATE IMPACT TOO!
Bush has issued a total of 274 Executive Orders todate in his 2 terms to this point:
- 165 in his first 4 term,
- 109 in his second so far.
Clinton issued a total of 364 in his two terms:
- 200 in his first 4 years
- 164 in his second 4 yrs.
You can bet to see Obama ‘out-do’ Clinton in this area.
God help us!
Not likely with the 52-48% margin. But, the Pres can use the EO to set policy for Federal land, Federal property, ANWR, offshore drilling in Federal waters.
Oh man when Bush did this it was Harry Carey, but The Messiah can do whatever he wants and it’s all good!
No Child Left Alive.
