As Republicans, we face a choice-
Either we can spend the next several months -- or years -- trying to figure out what just happened, excusing our defeat away as a temporary blip or the result of a poor environment, and waiting for Barack Obama to trip up. Or we can refuse to take this defeat lying down, and start building the future of our party now. 2008 made one thing clear: if allowed to go unchecked, the Democrats' structural advantages, including their use of the Internet, their more than 2-to-1 advantage with young voters, their discovery of a better grassroots model -- will be as big a threat to the future of the GOP as the toxic political environment we have faced the last few years.

I mentioned this earlier.....look into how our elections are funded and lay down strict, or stricter rules. Outside money cannot be allowed to control our elections. If they are allowed to do so...........our elections don’t mean a thing.
Abortion seems to be our biggest polarizing issue. Taxes, defense, border security, and smaller government are our strongest selling points. Go with what works.
I’m not a Repub. but you might wanna only allow Republicans to vote in your primaries.
There comes a point when the real choice is whether to continue trying to fix something that's broken.... or to start over from scratch.
For the record, I'm not advocating a third party. I'm advocating a REPLACEMENT party.
I said it on another thread— Screw Newt. He’s irrelevant. Time to go with new blood and fresh faces. Newt’s the past. People like Palin and Jindal represent the party’s future....
The moderates are behind the attacks on Palin. They want to damage her beyond repair so that they can secure power in the party. It’s time for a good bare knuckle fistfight. The moderates are only good at taking on other Republicans, but it’s time to kick their @$$e$....
We need strong Conservative leadership...age isn’t the quesiton... new fresh faces with the courage to lead is what is needed now. Those leaders who believe in Conservative Core Values and when asked what they believe don’t stutter to find an answer.
Like Governor Jindal, Governor Palin and other Conservatives put to the side by the RINOS in the GOP.
“Ping myself”
Your choice, Carry on!
Sometimes when on a roll you need to know where to stop. Elected people chasing young girls and boys is one of the things that damaged the republicans.
I say we rebuild around Palin. and real conservatism.
We got punked on the Internet.
Actually, the contract was for a series of ten reforms of the way Congress worked. We ended up passing seven or eight of those reforms, and I think one or two of them were rendered irrelevant by some other event. We promised to make those reforms within the first 100 days of office, and we did so. Too many Republicans think that the previous contract was about imposing a whole list of conservative laws, but that was never the contract. The class of '94 did very well at keeping the contract that they made.
Conservatives are disappointed that the GOP Congress wasn't able to force conservatism on the country. I'm also disappointed that we didn't accomplish more. I will always believe that if the Oklahoma City bombing hadn't occurred, we'd have accomplished much more. Unfortunately, that event gave Clinton a chance to divide the country as he always did, and he used that chance to make us less effective.
Because the media has tried to smear the original contract and its success, I'm not sure that another "contract" would sell. However, we could be successful with a restatement of principles. The problem is finding principles on which we can all agree. The media has said that Newt Gingrich was leader of the "leave me alone" Republicans, and they've cast that attitude in a bad light. Personally, I love the idea of being a "leave me alone" Republican and would be proud to be part of a group of people with that attitude. Unfortunately, too many "conservatives" and Republicans aren't happy with leaving others alone. Too many want to use government to impose themselves on others. We could do great things if we could just knock out the government supports that allow people to live irresponsible lives, but too many "conservatives" aren't willing to let things go at that point.

Yes, we did. Do you know the GOP was shown almost the same exact plan in 2003 by some of us Conservatives and they shrugged us off?
I wonder which RINO gave our plan to Camp Obama? We’ll never know but they used our plan. They changed the plan up a bit due to modernized software and technology, but the GOP knew the Internet was the future. The key is - either they don’t care or the RINOS are working quietly to completely destroy the GOP.
...which implicitly means "avoid what doesn't work"...like following the leads of RINO's like Bush, McCain and McCain's little catamite, Ms. Lindsey Graham.
