What an Obama Presidency May Mean for Origin Science
Creation Evolution Headlines ^ | November 5, 2008

Nov 5, 2008 — Needless to say, the scientific institutions are thrilled that their favorite candidate won. Editorials in both Nature and Science showed little objectivity about politics in the last few weeks. Part of this is due to Obama’s promises to fund science heavily, including $150 billion to fight global warming with alternative energy (see Nature News). Another reason for their support is that Joe Biden referred to intelligent design as “this malarkey” (09/01/2008) while both John McCain and Sarah Palin have made statements, albeit weak and non-specific, in favor of giving students opportunities to hear alternatives to evolution...

Alternatives to evolution?

There are no scientific alternatives to the theory of evolution through natural selection of genetic variation.

As far as evolution/creationism/I.D.; I.D. is an electoral loser for the GOP even in heavily “Red” districts.

To use a well known phrase . . . it is an absolutely complete, total, and utter “game changer” when it comes to the sciences. I can’t emphasize that enough.

While states will still battle over what is taught in schools, the Federal Govt will in no way be friendly on any level to any religious influence on science. Count on it.

Nothing.....y’all will still keep on trying to match Genesis and science.

As it oughta be.

ID is nothing more than warmed-over PC, the elevation of emotionalism over actual fact.

Yes, as well as the interjection of untestable philosophy into the area of a well supported and useful scientific theory.

The godless liberal NEA is ecstatic about the zero, just like all godless liberals are.

Having said that, science will be the least of zero’s worries, he and Michelle better get busy baking ALOT of pie!

abortions on demand, forced euthanasia, cloning with animals

human life has no sanctity, just an advanced ape so modern science says.

"Yes, as well as the interjection of untestable philosophy into the area of a well supported and useful scientific theory."

Evolution has already interjected the untestable philosophy of naturalism into biology and turned science into pseudo-science.

You didn't object then, why now?

"Alternatives to evolution? There are no scientific alternatives to the theory of evolution through natural selection of genetic variation."

This commits the fallacy of equivocation by conflating the methodological definition of science with the philosophical belief in naturalism.

It is, was and always will be both fallacy and non sequitur to assume that the existence of natural physical laws is equivalent to philosophical naturalism.

Naturalism is a philosophy.

Science is based upon empiricism.

But I wouldn't expect you to be able to understand the difference.

Science without empiricism is like cartography without measurement.

Naturalism is a philosophy.

Science is based upon empiricism.

And the reigning philosophy among scientists is naturalism and most of the most prominent naturalists equate science with naturalism.

The reigning philosophy among scientists in the USA is that of faith in God. Most scientists in the USA being people of faith.

Many idiots who have no idea what science is or what scientists believe think that scientists equate science with the philosophy of naturalism.

Science is a means of gaining useful knowledge about God’s creation. The philosophy of naturalism is just as useless in science as any other philosophy.

Wrong. A clear majority of Americans want ID/Creation Science taught alongside evolution:

Then why have school boards who pushed I.D./creationism gone down to electoral defeat, even in heavily ‘Red’ counties?

I.D. is a big loser, as a philosophy, and as an issue.

You’d think we would be tired of losing, but if you want to hitch the GOP horse to that rickety and useless wagon, maybe you should look at how well that wagon has worked out for others (it hasn’t).
