Know variations of this have been posted before, but I figure this is important for two reasons:
1. Many criminals may be emboldened for recent election results.
2. We all need a "lighten up" a tad.
DRILL SERGEANT JOE B. FRICK'S RULES FOR A GUN, KNIFE, BASEBALL BAT OR FIST FIGHT
1. Forget about knives, bats and fists. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns. Bring four times the ammunition you think you could ever need.
2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammunition is cheap - life is expensive. If you shoot inside, buckshot is your friend. A new wall is cheap - funerals are expensive
3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.
4. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.
5. Move away from your attacker and go to cover. Distance is your friend. (Bulletproof cover and diagonal or lateral movement are preferred.)
6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a semi or full-automatic long gun and a friend with a long gun.
7. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running. Yell "Fire!" Why "Fire"? Cops will come with the Fire Department, sirens often scare off the bad guys, or at least cause then to lose concentration and will.... and who is going to summon help if you yell "Intruder," "Glock" or "Winchester?"
9. Accuracy is relative: most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun.
10. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
11. Always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
12. Have a plan.
13. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work. "No battle plan ever survives 10 seconds past first contact with an enemy."
14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible, but remember, sheetrock walls and the like stop nothing but your pulse when bullets tear through them.
15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.
16. Don't drop your guard.
17. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees. Practice reloading one-handed and off-hand shooting. That's how you live if hit in your "good" side.
18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. Smiles, frowns and other facial expressions don't (In God we trust. Everyone else keep your hands where I can see them.)
19. Decide NOW to always be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.
20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
21. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet if necessary, because they may want to kill you.
22. Be courteous to everyone, overly friendly to no one.
23. Your number one option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
24. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with anything smaller than "4".
25. Use a gun that works EVERY TIME. "All skill is in vain when an Angel blows the powder from the flintlock of your musket." At a practice session, throw you gun into the mud, then make sure it still works. You can clean it later.
26. Practice shooting in the dark, with someone shouting at you, when out of breath, etc.
27. Redardless of whether justified of not, you will feel sad about killing another human being. It is better to be sad than to be room temperatire.
28. The only thing you EVER say afterwards is, "He said he was going to kill me. I beleived him. I'm sorry, Officer, but I'm very upset now. I can't say anything more. Please speak with my attorney."
Finally, Drill Sergeant Frick's Rules For Un-armed Combat.
1: Never be unarmed.
2: If you have your hands, your feet, your mind and your Spirit as an American Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine or Coastie, you are never unarmed.
Home ping and weapons shopping this weekend.
Thanks for your advice, I’ll have to test it out this weekend. That’s going to seriously piss me off, if it doesn’t work. I expect problems with the Walmart whitebox ammo, but I just kind of assumed these would work perfectly.
Bump
There are two possible lessons here: 1) two in the chest, one in the head, then repeat often, and; 2) .45, and see 1).
When your life is at stake, you don't want to operate on assumptions. Best case, it works perfectly. Worst case, it jams and you're out a few dollars for ammo that didn't work. You'll still be alive to try an alternative.
This is known as the '21 foot rule'. Any assailant with a knife in his or her hand will kill any defender attempting to draw from a holster. The defender will lose every single time.
Don't believe me? Try it yourself.

As a Redleg, I agree with you that field artillery is often right, but my at my house, at 03:15 hrs, 12 gauge is Right Now.
Also artillery and air strikes are sometimes described as a bit excessive for street assault or home defense.
A good pistolsmith can solve that feeding problem easily.
There are lot of pluses and minuses (as far as time goes) to that rule.
These are fractions of seconds while closing the gap. Including:
Gun holder awareness of knife holder and knife threat. Available light. Obstacles and cover between the two combatants. Alcohol and drugs. Whether gun is loaded and capable of firing. Familiarity with location.
Trigger safety if on, as well as awareness of gun holder about safety on status before attempting to fire. Unwillingness of gun holder to shoot. Experience and training of gun holder. Fight or flight response.
And of course the double whammy of luck and timing.
>>>The defender will lose every single time.
Not when I have my already Glock out and in my hand.
Try this.
Pick a spot. Measure 21 feet with a measuring tape. Mark both spots.
Give a friend, spouse, or a teenage kid a training knife and have them stand on one spot.
You take the other spot. Now use an UNLOADED gun, better yet a plastic Training Gun if you can find one. Holster the gun.
Face the 'assailant' who will have the knife in their hand. Tell them to attack you, and you can't attempt your draw until they move towards you.
You will lose, every single time. Trust me, I've demonstrated this dozens of times. If you have a holstered weapon and an assailant armed with a knife is within 21 feet of you, you're dead.
Period.
L
Then you only lose 50% of the time.
And do please share with the class which Jurisdiction you live in that allows you to walk around with your Glock in your hand.
Trust me MB. The 21 Foot Rule is taught in every Law Enforcement Academy in the US. It's taught because it's true.
Oh you may get a round into your attacker, but you'll be cut to ribbons.
Try it with a Sharpie marker and a holstered training weapon. You'll see it for yourself.

It would take a different barrel. The feed ramp doesn't lead to the edge of the chamber. A flat area about 2 mm wide is present below the entrance. A hollow point round presents a flat surface against the flat surface below the entrance. Carving that away in the fashion typical of a Glock chamber might fix it, but would leave all the brass with a balloon in the unsupported area of the case head. That's unsatisfactory as I reload all my ammo.
Nuke 'em from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Have you tried the Corbon PowR’Ball 165gr +P, Speer Gold Dot 200gr. +P, and Remington 230 Golden Sabres?
