Sarah Bashers - Just shut up
11/5/20008 | self

Posted on 11/06/2008 7:01:49 AM PST by ODDITHER

To the McCain staff and Republican Party leaders:

My family has been Republicans since before the civil war. One of my ancestors lived in Arkansas and is described as a Moral Abolitionist. Originally from South Carolina he brought his Family to North West Arkansas and started a community named The Lord’s Vineyard. Here he taught both his children and the slaves he brought with him as well as the slaves he inherited or bought in South Carolina to read and write. Once they reached 21 and were able to read and write and had learned a skill, he gave them a piece of property and helped them set up a business. He once said that his children were no more prepared to live in a world without slaves than the slaves were to have freedom. He is it was his duty to ensure that both could be free and successful. He created uproar when he gave one of his slaves a business before his son, because his son had not become sufficiently humble.

I believe through my family, I have earned the right to speak as a Republican and believe my thoughts reflect many other Republicans.

The McCain staffers who did not agree with Sarah Palin, would you please just Shut Up!! You must understand that most of America loved Sarah, she energized long time Republicans who like myself was not enamored with John McCain as the candidate. When he won, I had decided to sit this election out, I would vote for him because he was the lesser of two evils but I was not going to walk the streets and volunteer my time and money. Sarah changed that for me. I worked harder to get Senator McCain elected than I worked to get George Bush elected. If you’re an example of what the insiders in Washington have become, we deserved to lose!!!!

Americans are starved for someone that can clearly articulate our agenda of lower taxes, limited government, protecting the unborn children and our personal freedoms. Sarah Palin is that person and you are trying to destroy her. We will not allow that to happen, not this time. She will not become a George W Bush because you have hurt feelings. Our message was schizophrenic at best and liberal at worst. We must get back to being the party of ideas.

We must accept the fact that when liberals wage a campaign of personal destruction they win. They not only have the backing of the press but many in Europe. People who want to see American power in the world diminished back the liberal agenda because they know that liberals are the best avenue to destroying everything we hold dear. When liberals are forced to wage a campaign of ideas they lose. American values are center right not left. Every liberal that won, did not discuss issues but instead focusing on their opponent’s personal life and distorting their values. Republican’s who wage a campaign of personal destruction always lose.

If we move to the left, Americans will keep electing Democrats, we need to unite, and start presenting our party as the party of ideas and taking our case directly to the American people. We need every Republican united in that cause.

Shut up and get to work or get out of the way.

I don’t think it’s fair to assume that any criticism of Palin is motivated by a desire to promote Mitt.

Palin was thrust into a national spotlight without time to develop the patter required for a national campaign. When Obama first started making speeches, he said lots of stupid things, but he learned from his mistakes, and developed a coherent patter. Given time, Sarah would have done the same.

She’s obviously not a stupid woman, and she has an amazing, populist appeal. I don’t know why those who are attacking her now are doing it. Maybe some of them think she can develop into a formidable national candidate, and they have another person that they like better. Maybe some of them think that she isn’t smart enough to carry the banner all the way to the end. I think they are wrong, but maybe their intentions are good.

But, to try to lay this on Mitt (and I’m not saying you are doing that) when he has consistently behaved with more intelligence and class than almost anyone in this race, is just ridiculous.

It's the content of the character, as it was with Ronald Reagan, that counts not the totally inconsequential response to an interview question, like what SCOTUS decision one disagrees with

I disagree. Character matter to be sure. But that is only one quality of leadership. Another quality of utmost importance is salesmanship. Ronald Reagan had character, but he was also probably the best salesman you'll ever see. A good executive can sell their vision, their ideas. We need someone who can sell constitutionalism, and that requires knowing what you're talking about. She utterly failed to do that. You're making excuses for her. It's not right. She should be held to a higher standard.

Man, they are ripping her unbelievably...totally shredding her..how can other republicans do this to Palin?? And Fox News actually lead with this story yesterday!

Yes, I have no respect for those ASSHOLES at Fox who are reporting these vile accusations from ANONYMOUS sources. The elections are over. If these creeps want to make such accusations, then why don't these weasels let their name be used. If they aren't willing to do that, Fox shouldn't be reporting it.

After reading the strong feelings being expressed on these postings about the bashing of Sarah Palin, it would make most anyone cringe about even giving a thought to running for President.

My hope for the next couple of years is that Sarah Palin continues to energize the conservative base of the Republican Party.

I can envision she will be a regular on the speaking circuit at Republican events and she will get standing-room-only crowds to those partisan events in the same way she got huge crowds at her campaign rallies.

Sarah Palin is a strong asset for the Republican Party and I hope the party regulars do all they can to encourage her to help the party.

Yep, and if they do, he's going to end up with the same percentage of votes he got in THIS primary. If they're too dumb to learn from their mistakes, they deserve the same result.

I’ve seen so many nasty remarks I almost wish we could have Queen Elizabeth come over here and sit in the White House. I am sick sick sick of all the anger, the lies, the backstabbing.

I disagree. x42 had salesmanship and no character. I am not making excuses for Palin. I didn't watch the interviews, I don't listen to speeches written for politicians by others like, say Peggy Noonan and her beautiful speeches for the utter failure of x41. Salesmanship, yes, but it is something that can be acquired or faked as 0bama did it. Gore had salesmanship too.

I think that forming an opinion of a person, any person, on the basis of a television interview is flawed, to put it very mildly.

I agree. We want someone with both. That's my point. Salemanship alone won't do. Neither will character alone.

I think our time and efforts would be better spent for now recruiting and encouraging conservative Republicans to run for seats on their local election commissions and for secretary of state in their home states. We need to take back control of the election process. There’s plenty of time to worry about who will be the party’s standard bearer in 2012. The primaries will take care of that part of the equation. That being said, I would recommend lobbying the national party to switch from winner-take-all primaries to proportional primaries to prevent having another John McCain.

No, let these people attack her, let them show you who and what they are.

And mark them well because you’re seeing the face of your enemy.

Governor Palin is the standard by which I shall vote from this day forward. If you don’t measure up, you’re never again getting my vote.

If you stand in solidarity with Governor Palin, let her know. Don’t let the only voices she hears be those of the yapping dogs who are too stupid, too old or too blind to be unable to recognize friend from foe.

She and perhaps Jindal need to lead a new party that is all about Constitutional Principles of Government. The Washington Republican Elitists are not going to let you use the Republican Brand for Conservatism ever again. IMHO

Perhaps this is something to consider.

Most of us knew McCain was a lame candidate. He was never a bona dide conservative and he always put his own ambition above any semblance of party loyalty. Gotta be buddies with the MSM and get that gig as a Meet the Press guest, don'tya know? (How'd that work out for you, johnny-boy?)I expect he will go back to his old ways and blindside any conservative who stands on principal or blocks his efforts at "cooperation and bipartisanship" with the Marxist in Chief.

We all knew the truth of what you just said, but in the name of 'party unity' we all rallied behind the RINO for the sake of our Nation, and we tried our damndest to find as many bright spots as we could, but the ugly truth is, that "you can put (conservative) lipstick on a RINO but he's still a RINO", certainly preferable to a Marxist radical in the White House, but McCain was only marginally a better candidate than Bob Dole in '96.

His campaign was a joke, alright. He blew his last chance when he supported the bail out and never "named names" of the corrupt pols - mostly dims, of course - who brought on this disaster.

McCain didn't want to offend his Senate buddies, since he knew there was a better than even chance that he would be returning to that hallowed (har har) chamber after losing to Comrade 0bama.

Choosing Palin was the one bright spot in his campaign, but it was so against his nature that he couldn't stand himself for doing it. Hence, the trashing of Palin by his staff.

I don't think McCain regretted choosing Governor Palin, because he was focusing on her Alaskan 'maverick' image of taking on the GOP party machinery and being a rebel, the way McCain has always viewed himself. Governor Palin could have had the same political views as Lincoln Chaffee (*LWT - Rhode Island) and McCain would have selected her because that perceived 'maverick' routine appealed to him, nothing more, nothing less.

[*LWT = Limp Wristed Twerp]

We are about to see a fight for control of the Pubbies, and the first thing should be pushing McCain aside and TRASHING HIM the first time he takes sides with the dims on a big issue-- which shouldn't take too long.

I predict 30 days or less.

Until the GOP engages our common leftist enemies with ferocity, total partisanship, and taking no prisoners, returns to the fundamental principles of Reagan conservatism, we will be on the outside looking in, or perhaps in the most worst case scenario on the inside (of an 0bama Reeducation Kamp) looking OUT.
The ONLY way this is about to happen is if we, the grassroots, "storm" the GOP and do it ourselves. I do not know how this can be done, but we need to find the way to do it.

I know how to do it, but posting the details would get me banned from FR and probably end up with a visit from the Feds.

2005. Wow. What’s the origin of the word?

"It was in June of 2007. A mormon defender said this about those of us on the ping list: "Henceforth, you and your co-FR-theologians shall be known as the FR Flying Inmans, because in a secular setting you make a big fuss out of religion, and are a threat to hijack."

This was, of course a comparison to the "Flying IMAMS" group of middle easteners who were kicked off the plane In Phoenix after their unusual and threatening behavior. That incident was in the news at the time, IIRC.

We thought it was humorous in a way, especially the misspelling of imam. So we adopted the name "Flying INmans".

This was the first time we were likened as a group to terrorists...it has happened since from the same group of FReepers who would love to censor any anti-mormon information coming to light on FR. I kept a list of the nasty names we were called for a few weeks, but it was so prevalent that it wasn't even worth keeping up with."

Note: we have been called terrorists several times since then.
