To the McCain staff and Republican Party leaders:
My family has been Republicans since before the civil war. One of my ancestors lived in Arkansas and is described as a Moral Abolitionist. Originally from South Carolina he brought his Family to North West Arkansas and started a community named The Lords Vineyard. Here he taught both his children and the slaves he brought with him as well as the slaves he inherited or bought in South Carolina to read and write. Once they reached 21 and were able to read and write and had learned a skill, he gave them a piece of property and helped them set up a business. He once said that his children were no more prepared to live in a world without slaves than the slaves were to have freedom. He is it was his duty to ensure that both could be free and successful. He created uproar when he gave one of his slaves a business before his son, because his son had not become sufficiently humble.
I believe through my family, I have earned the right to speak as a Republican and believe my thoughts reflect many other Republicans.
The McCain staffers who did not agree with Sarah Palin, would you please just Shut Up!! You must understand that most of America loved Sarah, she energized long time Republicans who like myself was not enamored with John McCain as the candidate. When he won, I had decided to sit this election out, I would vote for him because he was the lesser of two evils but I was not going to walk the streets and volunteer my time and money. Sarah changed that for me. I worked harder to get Senator McCain elected than I worked to get George Bush elected. If youre an example of what the insiders in Washington have become, we deserved to lose!!!!
Americans are starved for someone that can clearly articulate our agenda of lower taxes, limited government, protecting the unborn children and our personal freedoms. Sarah Palin is that person and you are trying to destroy her. We will not allow that to happen, not this time. She will not become a George W Bush because you have hurt feelings. Our message was schizophrenic at best and liberal at worst. We must get back to being the party of ideas.
We must accept the fact that when liberals wage a campaign of personal destruction they win. They not only have the backing of the press but many in Europe. People who want to see American power in the world diminished back the liberal agenda because they know that liberals are the best avenue to destroying everything we hold dear. When liberals are forced to wage a campaign of ideas they lose. American values are center right not left. Every liberal that won, did not discuss issues but instead focusing on their opponents personal life and distorting their values. Republicans who wage a campaign of personal destruction always lose.
If we move to the left, Americans will keep electing Democrats, we need to unite, and start presenting our party as the party of ideas and taking our case directly to the American people. We need every Republican united in that cause.
Shut up and get to work or get out of the way.
the silver lining in the black cloud is as follows...Let the purge begin!!!!
Yesterday Rush just read out of the party anyone who proposes to nominate another RINO.Considering that the Democrats selected our nominee this time out, we have to do a "lessons learned" and
If the Republican Party cannot institutionalize those rules, then it is a faux opposition to the Democrats. And it will be time for a second party.
- implement a zero tolerance policy for open primaries. The states establish the rules for primaries, all right - but any political party decides how many delegates each state shall have. And even whether or not any of them will be elected in primaries. If a state requires that primaries shall be open, the Republican Party must select the delegates from that state, if any, internally.
- Second, there should be a large disincentive for anyone who is overage in grade to become a candidate for the nomination. People who have been around for 16 years since becoming a senator or governor without becoming VP, simply do not win election and should not be nominated.
- Senators win election only when the opposition candidate is also a senator.
- And sitting VPs only win election if the sitting president is someone whose face belongs on a denomination of our currency.
- Anyone who confesses, or otherwise manifests, ignorance of economics is not qualified to run.
- Anyone who cannot stand up on his hind legs and tell the truth about his opponent - or at least nominate a VP who will - is not qualifed to run.
To date, “competion” for the GOP has been more like “whack a mole”.
Whomever dares win over some supporters — gets attacked.
It’s like a bucket of crabs. A crab in a bucket of water, will climb out.
A crab in a bucket of water with other crabs, will start to climb out, and the other crabs will pull it back in.
That’s how we got McCain. Because every candidate who started to gain appeal, was immedately pulled down.
The answer, the way to win, is to REJECT any and all negative feedback if it’s not part of an honest exchange, by someone willing to admit who they’re for. Either you are *for* someone, or you’re just not part of the dialogue.
All I see, are anonymous complainers who attack a hugely powerful future candidate.
At a time, we should be lining up, without back-biting, against a marxist monolith which threatens everything America has ever stood for.
Palin is not the problem.
Palin is not a problem at all. She seems rather a lot, like a solution.
Marxism is the problem.
But Newt's conservativeness has been in flux these past 5yrs, I am not sure about his allegiance to the “Big Red”.
By deal breaking I meant your support of her in 2012.
My take is this we need her now celeb status. It was generated by much blood she shed from the attacks against her. We would be extremely naive not to now utilize what we could not because of McCain.
She, without a doubt, should now be stumping our “Conservative” views, from now till November, 2012.
I will get out of nothin punk.
Do you have some info on Schmidt’s connections before he hooked up with McCain?
I think the bashing of Palin is awful. But, at the beginning of every one of these threads is someone trying to lay it on Romney. There is absolutely no evidence of that. It is just an attempt by the diehard Romney haters to link him with it. He worked for the ticket, and said gracious things about Sarah Palin.
Either one of them would be a good candidate in the future. They have different backgrounds and different strengths. We will see what happens in the next four years.
What was wrong with the Charlie Gibson interview? I thought she did pretty good. Are people bagging her about the Bush Doctrine? I’m not sure if she knew if and wanted Gibson to be more specific but if I was asked that question, i don’t think i could’ve given an answer too.
I didn’t watch the Couric interview so I can’t comment.
If she does decide to run in 2012 she will have to do so many interviews and primary debates that we will definitely know if she is up to the tasks. She won’t have McCain around her neck this time and following his policies.
Getting in the way of what? Anointing Sarah Palin? If I knew some names, I'd name them. I'm not trying to "get in the way" of anything, except maybe the premature acceptance of a leader. I believe in competition. I think we should be picky, not hasty, and I'm not sold on Sarah. Sorry.
If you have a favorite candidate, speak up.
I don't. That's why I am raising the question. We need a FIELD of prospects, not just one. People mention Jindal. Fine, throw him on the pile. The name that keeps coming up in my mind lately is Newt, but I recognize his flaws and haven't ever been a huge fan overall. But I do think he demonstrates a lot of the qualities we need in whoeever we end up with. He can speak persuasively and in depth on all the issues that matter. And I think he understands what it takes to be a quality executive. I'm not saying he's the guy, but I'd like to see a think tank host a debate of Newt vs Sarah. I think he's smart enough to at a minimum provide a very good test for Sarah, so we doubters can see what she's truly made of.
How about Newt vs Sarah, debating Constitutional issues. You think she'd hold her own?
I realize people get frustrated when someone criticizes without a solution, but sometimes that's just how it is. I don't know who the best person is. I'm skeptical about Sarah. I'd like to see more choices. And none of the ones we had this time around, except maybe Huckabee. I think he's got political talent. It's the nanny state thing that probably kills him.
Sarah was my pick before she was McCain’s; she is a breath of fresh conservative air amid the stench of traditional Potomac Politics. She will be back, stronger than before.
For the next year our cry should be “WHERE’S THE BEEF?”
Obama cannot deliver as promised. His failures should be put in front of everything else. Sarah will be in the wings, smiling and ready to bring our government back to some form of a republic.
You have absolutely no evidence that Romney supporters are bashing Sarah. This is a lie that is being manufactured right here in FR to keep the Romney hatred alive.
Who are you FOR?
Pick a lane.
Otherwise, you’re nothing but a termite.
The Romney bashing just shows what a threat they see him to be. They know he is strong and will probably be a candidate in 2012.
Well then I'll start fitting my car with pontoons.
Get a grip. You can buy the first car you test drive. I'll shop around for a while. Do some research. You're an easy sale. That's not good. Doesn't lead to getting the best.
So you admit you’re casting your doubtful posts against Palin, because you’re an agent for Romney?
Excellent.
We’re making progress. Now how about you explain why you’re FOR Romney, rather than why you’re against Palin? I say this, as someone who donated to Romney.
Thanks in advance.
And just when, should we remember that? Four years is not long when the campaigns take up two of them.
I would agree on Gingrich if I knew which Newt you were talking about. The "Contract" one, or the philanderer?
Palin’s ok. I’m not saying she’s a problem. I’m saying I’m hoping a better option emerges.
No, I don’t support her for 2012.
I think her “celeb” status only exists with a very disheartened base that just couldn’t get behind Mr. Gang of 14.
It never seemed genuine to me. Just desperate.
I haven't seen McCain stand up for her either! He should tell the "staff" to STFU or he'll reveal their names so that they'll never work again.
