One of the aides tells CNN that campaign manager Rick Davis fired Scheunemann after determining that he had been in direct contact with journalists spreading "disinformation" about campaign aides, including Nicolle Wallace and other officials.

"He was positioning himself with Palin at the expense of John McCain's campaign message," said one of the aides.

Excellent post! I agree!

If the focus is switched of of whining about McCain and dunb impeachment crap, we will do well.

I would hate to see La. lose Jindal but for right now he looks like an untouchable conservative contender in 2012. Possibly people did not notice him on Hannity because they are so blinded with the con artist Obama and impeachment crap and the bashing of Palin.

Video of Bobby Jindal on Fox.

Scratch that idea about DeLay being a P or VP candidate: he’s from Texas. Sorry to all the Lone Star patriots out there, but that ain’t gonna work.

DeLay as Chairman of the RNC and as a Atwater/Carville type, emphatically YES!

Palin was the only good thing in this race. I wasn't even going to show up at the polls until Palin came on board. As it turned out, I contributed more to Mccain than i ever have to any Republican campaign. I think the McCain did OK considering all the things working against him. It just wasn't to be. Just tells me I need to pray more and put less faith in politics. I think Sarah worked her butt off, and I really appreciate that. Just hope if there's anything left of the country in four years, we can get Sarah or someone like her that is unafraid to buck the spirit of the times.

Just of note, Condi , Powell are turncoats. I have no respect for either of them. Not because of skin color, because they are jelly fish.

I agree. I can’t believe Condi and Powell did that. I thought they were some of the good ones but I guess the liberal indoctrination of the Black youth in this country cuts deep. Even some of our conservatives jumped at the chance to vote “Black”. Unreal. I’m black and if he were the last person on the ballot I wouldn’t vote for the socialist, unexperienced rookie, radical, so called Messiah. What is wrong with this country. I swear a lot of it is White Liberal Guilt. My fellow Black people have been laying the victim stuff on people for a while I guess they figure that if they voted for Obama they can prove to themselves that they aren’t racist. I have news for those people....you’re still gonna be called a racist. It’s a tactic....
I still can’t believe we just elected him...

Anyone who criticizes Palin is an idiot. She was what made this campaign as competitive as it was. She was the wedge I used to pry lots of members of the base off the fence and into McCain's camp. Sadly, it wasn't enough. But without her on the ticket, it would have been a total wipeout.

Keep an eye on the Republicans who criticize her. They need to be ostricized and fast if we want to have a hope of rebuilding in time for 2010.

What was McCain's message?

“Earmarks, my friends, earmarks.”

To be fair to McCain, I think his main message was going to be that he was right about the Surge, and Obambi was wrong.

The only problem with this is that he was so right about the Surge that it ceased to be a campaign issue.

And the economy knocked the war off the top of the issue pile when really weakened the impact that the surge working had on voters.

>>>Kevin Madden and Kathleen Parker were the the source of the "Trooper Gate" nonsense.

Kevin Madden hasn't worked for Romney since he dropped out at his CPAC speech in February. He works for a Dem firm in DC now. Blaming Romney for his actions now is akin to the Dems argument that Cheney is still controlling Haliburton.

Kathleen Parker is a journalist who has never worked for Romney. While I would like just as much as anyone for Romney to trash her on national TV for her statements. I'm guessing he is not going waste his time playing the role of thought police against her. To engage a journalist like that would just lower his standards. And it would have been off message for McCain/Palin. If they sent Romney to respond to a journalist the media would have just made it a bigger story.

Romney was on message and did a ton holding back the tide. Look down the list of over 30 candidates he raised money for (over 20 million). Many of them won. Thank you Romney.

My favorite is Pete Hoekstra of Michigan http://www.mlive.com/chronicle/news/index.ssf/2008/11/hoekstra_cruises_to_ninth_hous.html He won against the Dems thanks in part to Romney's support. he helped develop the contract with America, was a fortune 500 CEO, and has been working in the WOT as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

Look at the list to see who Romney helped from your state.

Anyone who criticizes Palin is an idiot.

Then call me an idiot. At best, she energzied the Mike Huckabee wing of the Republican base. But that's about the extent of her appeal.

That tells me she her future in national politics is limited. No one can win a general election by appealing to rural values voters alone.

Yes, I liked Romney and we are fortunate to have him in the GOP. We will need to unite and choose the best to try to get Republicans back into leadership roles. It may be a long time until we see the GOP in the majority again. It will not be by looking solely to the past; we must have better ideas for the future and persuasively articulate those ideas to all generations. We should not cede the youth vote so easily.

ascist ROmney (to the Left of Obama) imposed his socialistic/fascist HillaryCARE=RomneyCARE without a vote
just like his imposed Gay Marriage (when he violated and micturated on the Massachusetts Constitution).

Romney wiped out Massachusetts.

The five states with least favorable business climates are Califorinia (lowest ranking), New York, Michigan, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Romney was rated a "C" overall by Cato, also because he betrayed President Bush. Here are the facts.

As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal.
[Cato Institute annual Fiscal Policy Report Card - America's Governors, 2004.]

Myth Romney: "You will embrace this attack on Gov. Palin and her children using Jindal's, McCain's and Huckabee's names
like our attacks on McCain and Thompson using Huckabee's name. Support it, from our lands in
the north using the fake law enforcement badges we fabricated. I will gain GOP favor by condemning it and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south with Fox News and the MSM. Whichever way
the tide runs, we will rise."

It's also time the GOP made a play for African Americans as well. Only 14% turned out to vote this election (even with Obama running) compared to 13% in 2004. Black American Conservatism has always been a strong thread in the African American Community (pro-life, anti-gay). The GOP has to make inroads on the ground and in the churches. They can also make a bigger play for Latino voters (Americans not the illegal types). Most are conservative Catholics and entrepranuers. There is no reason the GOP can't do better with Cuban Americans as well who hate communism.

The GOP does not do a good job at the local level. When I voted this time, and every other election I've voted, there are always lower level races and positions (city council, auditor, local judges, etc.) that Dem candidates are running uncontested. Conservatives are busy raising families and enjoying Capitalism but the Dems fill the govt. Howard Dean, is a dingleberry of course, but his strategy of putting money and investing on the ground everywhere years ago probably paid off this election.

Palin and Romney are both part of the future of the party. I am amazed at those trashing Palin or those lying about Romney as the source of Palin rumors. We have the names they are former McCain staffers.

Michelle Malkin was on Fox this morning naming the McCain aides. That the liberal MSM is trying to pin it on Romney speaks volumes. They want to bring both Palin and Romney down. What better way to do it than lie about both. What is too bad this last week how many FReepers have bought into the rumors.

Time to look to the future. That Prop 8 did well in Commufornia gives me hope that America will do the right thing eventually.
