The GOP also increased its majority in the state House where the party gained control four years ago.
The 48-member Senate has been evenly divided with 24 Republicans and 24 Democrats the past two years.
Republicans in the Senate won two seats that were held by Democrats although Republican Jim Reynolds was trailing in his race against Democrat David Boren - who is not related to the University of Oklahoma president.
If Reynolds wins - the GOP will hold a 26-22 majority and it will be 25-23 Republican if Reynolds loses.
In the key races Republican Jim Halligan won the seat held by term-limited Democrat Mike Morgan and Democrat Nancy Riley was defeated for re-election by Republican Dan Newberry.
I wish I could move there. We are moving to Viginia in January. On the other hand we will be new voters in VA for the GOP...but I still want to move to OK or Alaska.
Hey, we’ve taken control of something. This and the Puerto Rico governorship. Its like 1994 all over again....
Proud to be from Oklahoma. We also kept one Corporation Commission seat and took back another one from a Henry appointee.
We have set the stage to take back the Governor’s Mansion in 2010!
Oh Fortuna won? Good. Too bad his replacement in congress is a rat.
We also won the Tennessee House. Great news for TN.

Don’t forget the downballot races. LT. Guv, AG, ect. All rat right now.
Dan Boren in his house seat makes me sick. He needs to lose or switch. I know the Boren name is gold right?
“OK is trending GOP”
Big time. Bucking the trend the last 2 elections.
Time for those conservatives to vote straight GOP.

Henry’s win made me ill.
Cockfighting as an issue (for real!) plus a third party candidate put him in office.
Good news..............Boomer Sooner!
I can't bear to look at the Memphis Commercial this morning.
I say BS. Where was our governor last night? In Chicago partying with zero is where he was. Oklahoma Secede!!!!
regards - red
I hate seeing conservative states called “red” - another sly little annoyance foisted on us by the MSM.
But I am heartened that there remain such “red” states as Oklahoma, which also just re-elected Senator Inhofe. I live in that kind of state too, one that went solidly for McCain-Palin and in which I am comfortable with, indeed proud of, my neighbors.

Nice work OK!
Click on Pings or “New Posts to You” at the top of the page of FreeRepublic. Every page has a “Pings” link somewhere (this one is at the center of the page footer). If you revisit this thread you’ll see this answer; otherwise I guess you’ll ask someone else later on a different thread, LOL!
There’s no way in FR to retrace your steps as to which threads you visited unless you commented. Often FReepers type “Self Ping” as a reply to some post so they can find the thread later.
We’re still a center-right country. Wait until The Messiah’s charm wears off.
Bingo - you hit it on the head - Center Right. So when some of the ultra conservs and Evangelicals start putting religion heavily or a woman that needs a ton more seasoning into the mix, then it goes Center Left like it has done.
You again?
