As it appears that Obama has won this election, following Fox News calling both Ohio and PA for him, I think it is now time for the businessmen and women who run this country to make it quite clear what the consequences are to those people who sold out their freedom for empty promises.
Small business owners, your taxes are now going to be raised. You now will face the difficult choice of either cutting your costs by laying people off, or by passing the increased costs of taxation on to your customers. This time I want you to take the time to tell that laid off employee exactly why he has lost his job. Tell him that the Obama tax increase has forced you to take his salary and give it to "the middle class". If he protests that he is part of the middle class, then explain that he should make good use of the $500 he sold his vote for, because it cost him his job.
For the manufacturers: When you move your production facilities overseas because the US has the second highest corporate income taxes in the world, make sure your workers understand that their Union is mostly to blame, and they should go talk to them about why it was a good idea to vote for the guy who would make all union votes public.
For your customers: Explain that the price of your product has gone up because of your taxes being increased, and because the rising price of oil from keeping the caribou happy has forced you to charge them more. Tell them you tried inflating your tires, but unfortunately it did not put any more gasoline in your tank.
Consumers: When you go shopping, and are considering buying a high ticket item, when you change your mind, make sure that they know that if you had only kep that extra 3% of your salary.... the "chump change", you could have bought their item.
In short: It is time for us all to become John Galt.
Make them understand that capitalism requires capital, and unfortunately Obama gave the capital you needed to somebody who was more deserving than them.
Ask them how it feels to be "rich".
Tell them that you are sure they will be OK, because Obama told them it would be so.
Ask them how they are enjoying their "Change", and if they have any more "Hope" for the future.
Start a bunch of small businesses, deal with each other as much as possible, thereby strengthening, or at least helping, each make it through the coming bad times. 10,000 people kicking 10-25 dollars a month could start some small at home businesses. Map it out what would be needed.
One of the best vanities I’ve ever read. Thank you!
Hear, hear. I just received a letter from our local pantry asking for donations. Since Obama and the Dems are going to get into my wallet, I ain't got no spare change.
To the extent possible, I’m not going to enrich the Obama “economy” now either. Decided I don’t need cable and will keep my old TV instead of getting a new widescreen. New laptop can wait as well.
Will cut back on anything that’s not a necessity and make do with old stuff that’s not totally worn out.
Wish my mom was still alive — she was a “depression” kid who had all sorts of sayings about using things up, wearing them out, etc. She really knew how to save, and I’m trying to emulate her even more now than I did before.
We can do this!

I encourage everyone to do the same.
Maybe half of the country who voted for McPalin should hold onto their tax money this year.
You mean go on a strike of sorts?! That is ludicrous. If you were able to seriously able to pull this off, then good investments will become cheaper and an investor will step up because they will not be able to resist the potential returns. Money trumps politics - always has and always will.
Does anybody do any ad speciality stickers?
Here is one we can use while eating out.
That’s called a mutual aid society and they used to be quite prevalent before insurance companies and welfare agencies.
“I think, though, that there may be more than just a “few” of us out there.”
Uh, yeah. Atlas Shrugged is second only to the bible in the “Most Influential Book” category (Reader’s Digest).
Wow! What a great response to these ideas.
Will it last past the election-of-a-socialist high-anxiety?
I am prepared to develop a site to focus and “centralize” our endeavor if the interest stays at this level.
As a laissez-faire capitalist I would love a site where like-minded people could share ideas in a forum, network/share leads, “police” the capitalist landscape, participate in polls, contests, post videos, virtual business cards and basically fun stuff that supports the cause.
We could add a searchable national directory and promote it (We have Search Engine Optimization experts on staff). This could provide a way for us and surfers in general to find a business/product/service in their area that is a member of this organization and shares the pro-capitalist/anti-socialism agenda of the “American” left.
There may be some infiltration by businesses that really aren’t aligned but in time I think many of them would reveal their true colors. The mission statement would be very clear as to our intentions and these ideas can be everywhere on the site. Most leftist companies would not want to have their “membership” to our site advertised to their friends, neighbors, employees and the whole world — remember, we won’t be hard to find.
I would call a FReeper for help LONG before I’d call any other business, frankly.
How about a forum section stocked with like-minded accountants where we’d share legal ideas on how to keep your money and your business safe from the left’s giant vacuum?
I believe this type of thing would make us all feel better knowing our money is not funding one of these “leftist/liberal” companies.
Now, one of the downsides for some might be that your business could be targeted by the left in “retaliation”.
Personally, I’m not at all worried about this (We’ve had McCain stickers on our company vehicles for months — our lib customers gave us some grief but most didn’t stop using us. As for the ones that did: I would bet at least half of them will calling back when they experience our competitors.)
Thoughts? ideas?
Please add me to the ping list!!
Please do! That’s why I posted it here. If anyone can improve the wording, let me know. I would love to see a lot of unworthy charities, churches, schools, etc. get a lot of these! They will squeal! But the truth is that conservatives give more to charity than Liberals do. At least we used to ;-)
I got home tonight with my labels and eagerly went straight for the mail. For the first time in memory, no solicitations :-( Oh well, I’ll be ready when one shows up.
“I am sure the earth worshipers living there will be happy to hear that but we will drive around them to Wyoming or Utah and drop our couple grand on a vacation where we share common political ground.”
Hot damn, you can spend plenty in Wyoming and have a GREAT vacation, between Cody and Yellowstone. I haven’t been to Cheyenne, Casper, Jackson Hole or anywhere not on the northern highway line, but the parts I saw I really enjoyed.
Utah too, for skiing or hiking. (Haven’t checked the profile but I assume you live in the Southwest?)
“Well how about a “red” mutual fund that only invests in red states?”
Sounds like a Capital idea! Maybe a ping list even!
You see from your comments that there was a plausible slacker revolution last night. All of those entitlement babies who’s own parents have cut them off are left with their X-Box and their envy, wondering how they are going to pay the rent.
They resent us for working hard and don’t intend to do the same. Instead they want to sock it to the rich as they used to say and get a nice tit to suckle on. It’s our milk but it’s obama’s tit.
Please add me to Atlas too...btw, has there been any Steyn since the election?
Engineering types will want to read DIY magazine and other self-op publications. Maybe get a DIY group together in your neighborhood, it will be functional and social. The greenies have a point, high-efficiency house systems and alternative energy structures make financial sense.
I love making things and scrounging, so I can’t put much more of it into my life than I already have (also I live in an apt building so I can’t modify the structure.)
I checked out the Mormon one and went to their politics sub-forum. Too many libs in there for my taste, but thanks for the link. Maybe when I’m not so mad, I can explore the more useful discussions.
