Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., today urged Americans to pray for the nation and vote on Tuesday.
"The voting booth will be vital, and the prayer room will be even more vital on Tuesday," said Dr. King. "We must remember what is at stake in this election. We must take courage and hope in the fact that God is in control. We must vote, and we must remember to pray always."
"The world is watching and lives are at stake," added Dr. King. "Let us be able to say on Wednesday that we did our best and let us humbly remember that God has the final say."

Alveda King did indeed endorse McCain. I still am mystified why his campaign didn’t try more aggressively to spotlight her support. She would have been particularly effective appearing in a rotation of pro-McCain/anti-Obama campaign ads. She has been pretty outspoken in her support for the McCain-Palin ticket all along.

Many people believe Martin Luther King Jr. would have a been a Republican today. There is NO WAY he would support voting for someone because of the color of their skin.
I think blacks need to think hard about why they are voting.
Are they voting because Obama “looks like them” or will they
vote for their country.
I think we will all be surprised at the election results when we see the black support for McCain surged. Or I could be wrong.
