Barak Obama says that he wants to increase taxes on people and business' that make more than $250,000 a year. This sounds ok to those of us who make less than that until you look at it logically and to me it starts to look really bad. First, my utility company makes more than $250,000 a year so there taxes will go up and that cost will be passed on to the comsumer -(us)- to make up for lost profits, and lets face it, if they didn't increase there price's they would have to cut back on spending and jobs would be one of the first things to go. The same could be said about the local grocery stores, gas stations, and the vast majority of companies out there that provide us with a product or service. 99 percent of the products in my home were made by a company making more than $250,000. And I'm sure that if you looked around your home the same could be said about most of your stuff as well. That means school supplies will go up, medicines, clothes, everything. And what's worse is that most of us will not be able to afford as many goods and services so demand will drop and those companies will have to downsize and we will still end up loosing jobs. We must not Elect Obama even if this were the only reason.
Welcome to FR, newbie!
Agreed, Newbie.
I can already see that you're going to fit right in.
Welcome to FR...
$250 K is an outright lie. What is this taken serious, they have already said that middle class is 75K.
When the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, people making $30,000 or so per year will have a tax increase.
Also, the courts....if Obama is elected, he will appoint radical judges; these are LIFETIME appointments. It will take 25 years or longer to get rid of these judges.
Let’s vote for McCain in droves and make all this talk of an Obama presidency a non-event.
HeeHee — I was wondering how many posts it would take to pick that up! LOL!
Here’s another and fundamental reason too:
It has been a difficult struggle, but the pro-life movement has accomplished many things since the Supreme Court’s decision to preempt all state and federal laws regulating abortion in Roe v. Wade in 1973. While achieving the ultimate goal of overturning Roe remains somewhere in the future, we have been able to achieve many small successes along the way:
the Hyde Amendment, which restricts federal funding for abortions;
the federal law banning partial birth abortions, which was finally upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in April 2007;
the “Mexico City Policy,” which has barred the use of federal taxpayers’ money to pay for abortions in other countries;
laws in 44 states that preserve a parental role when children under 18 seek abortions;
laws in 40 states that restrict late-term abortions;
laws in 46 states that protect the right of conscience for individual health care providers;
laws in 27 states that protect the right of conscience for institutions;
laws in 38 states that ban partial birth abortions;
laws in 33 states that require counseling before having an abortion;
and laws in 16 states that provide for ultrasounds before an abortion.
All of these restrictions on abortion - all of the progress we’ve made over the past 35 years in trying to limit and reduce abortions in the United States - would be invalidated with the stroke of a pen if the next Congress passes, and the next president signs, the so-called “Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA).
Before you cast your vote on Tuesday, please take the time and effort necessary to learn whether candidates for whom you might vote favor or oppose FOCA.
OBAMA IS THE MOST PRO-ABORTION CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. HE WILL SIGN FREEDOM OF CHOICE ACT.
BTW.....
There will be no need for logic when the revolution comes!
Please, please ... don’t make this vanity writing thing regular. I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here, I don’t know why. It never hurts to find an existing thread tied to an actual news story on which to place your comments.
I agree, I work for an Orthodontist and well I know for one that if Obama raises taxes, then he will be forced to cut jobs or raise prices.
VOte PT Barnum for more taxes, and hope you will have some change leftover.
This is the same thing I have been screaming to all my friends...maybe thats why my co-worker got so mad at me. Could it be because I am right.
If a business decides it wants to spend an extra $100/month on an employee, but Uncle Sam takes $6 as the “employer’s share” of FICA , then what would have been a $100 raise is going to be a $94 raise. If Uncle Sam then takes another $6 from the employee’s paycheck then the employee ends up with what’s effectively an $88 raise. A bit less motivational than a $100 raise would have been.
Where’ve you been...they’ve dropped that figure to 200,000 to 150,000 to what.... 120,000 this week? Oh, and last year he said $97,000. I believe BOHICO is the operative phrase.
I shudder every time I see a picture of that monster holding a baby for a photo-op. He is without a doubt the most radical abortion lover I have ever seen. I would have never thought that someone with views like his would be electable in a million years. Of course, the MSM has carried his water for him and covered all this up just like everything else about him. I pray he doesn’t get elected!
