John McCain's campaign is looking for a scapegoat. It is looking for someone to blame if McCain loses on Tuesday.
And it has decided on Sarah Palin.
In recent days, a McCain adviser told Dana Bash of CNN: She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone.
Imagine not taking advice from the geniuses at the McCain campaign. What could Palin be thinking?
Also, a top McCain adviser told Mike Allen of Politico that Palin is a whack job.
Maybe she is. But who chose to put this whack job on the ticket? Wasnt it John McCain? And wasnt it his first presidential-level decision?
And if you are a 72-year-old presidential candidate, wouldnt you expect that your running mates fitness for high office would come under a little extra scrutiny? And, therefore, wouldnt you make your selection with care? (To say nothing about caring about the future of the nation?)
McCain didnt seem to care that much. McCain admitted recently on national TV that he didnt know her well at all before he chose Palin.
But why not? Why didnt he get to know her better before he made his choice?
Its not like he was rushed. McCain wrapped up the Republican nomination in early March. He didnt announce his choice for a running mate until late August.
Wasnt that enough time for McCain to get to know Palin? Wasnt that enough time for his crackerjack vetters to investigate Palins strengths and weaknesses, check through records and published accounts, talk to a few people, and learn that she was not only a diva but a whack job diva?

Isn’t it funny how all the “McCain insiders” seem to find Dana Bash and POLITICO when the want to discredit the campaign? I guess it’s well known those two sources are magnets for anti-McCain/Palin
There are many Republicans that I like. The Republican Party I despise. I want a conservative political party.
none of this is credible.
The reason mccain has crowds and most of us here on FR. (and FR) is BECAUSE of a conservative.
Well, perhaps, but at least he cites an anomymous source who speaks to the impeccable Mike Allen of Politico.
Also, a top McCain adviser told Mike Allen of Politico that Palin is a whack job.
So there's no bias, you see?
Everyone at Political is a leftist hack.
Never mind that some right wing talkers praise them.
This is Democratic BS
Hey, Roger! After January 20, I really don’t care much about what happens to McCain, because I’ll be more interested in getting VP Palin ready to take over the party and the Presidency. Oh, and sending all those Country-club RINOs back to the nether depths of the party. They are responsible for this mess, which is perfectly clear from their frantic efforts to blame ANYONE but themselves!
oops....Make that POLITICO
I couldn’t stomach watching that pile of crap last night but I’m glad it’s getting negative reviews from conservative and liberal sources.
With Sarah, he actually has a chance at winning on Tuesday.
It's really that simple.
I think anyone who believes Bash and POLITICO about ANYTHING are just taking the bait. Rectal orifices can only produce one product......
Absolutely correct. If McCain loses it is because he is a RINO who has run a campaign as inspired as Bob Dole's. If he wins it is because Palin energized the base and dragged McCain across the finish line. Without her, the base stays home and this was an Obama landslide. The MSM keeps trying to shoot Palin down because they don't want to face her in the future if Obama wins. They are perfectly content to have the RINO's ruling the party and are deathly afraid that the middle America base is able to gain control of the Republican party and stop these RINO candidates. I love Reagan but wish he had picked a different VP and put an end to the Rockefeller Republican wing of the party once and for all. Maybe then we would have had better candidates since.
Roger Simon is the Chief Political Columnist of Politico. He grew up on the South Side of Chicago where politics was a contact sport. ...
Like his former South Side neighbor, Simon has a credibility gap the width of Lake Mighigan.
Drivel speaker
This is BS. Politico exposed itself as a gossip rag with the Fred Thompson hit piece in Iowa and never looked back. Even Page Six is better sourced.
I could see a lot of reasons why McCain’s staff wouldn’t like Sarah. She’s bright, attractive, independent, quick on the draw and has that intuitive political instinct that most people do not possess. Reagan had it, even Bill Clinton had it. Staff certainly doesn’t and she does better out on her own than listening to them. Politicians and staffs have big egos. I’m not trying to down them for that, but I think it takes a big ego to run for office. That also includes Palin. But she campaigns effectively without their help and they don’t like it. And with the ego that it takes to do this kind of work, they’re talking outright about it. I find nothing unbelievable about this at all. But I love Sarah Palin and I think she’s doing just fine.
Sarah Palin is the only reason McCain even has a shot. If McCain does loose (which I don’t believe he will) he has no one to blame but himself.
But some of McCain's thinking - sticking to public funding when “The One” dumped it, not mentioning Wright, etc. was really poor.
I wonder if the decisions were made by his campaign directors or by McCain himself.
You would think that BY NOW, it SHOULD HAVE SUNK IN that the ONLY time the media REALLY liked him was when he was poking REPUBLICANS in the eye.
This is another in a seemingly endless string of these Divide & Conquer vote suppression article.
Shame on anyone here carrying gasoline cans.
