Barack Obama shows dull side on infomercial
Boston Herald ^ | October 30, 2008 | Jessica Heslam

“Night Rider” - one of the TV shows that got bumped to make way for Barack Obama’s infomercial - was looking pretty good last night about six minutes into the candidate’s last-minute pitch.

The Democratic contender had better be elected president, because he wouldn’t make a great late-night infomercial pitchman.

His 30-minute TV special was aimed at the middle class and depicted a few Americans struggling with finances and health care that left you with a feeling of depression rather than hope.

And tonight Chris Matthews' doctors announced that his leg tingle has metastasized leaving his entire body like a vibrating cellphone whose ringtone is locked on "I'm In Love, I'm In Love, I'm In Love, I'm In Love, I'm In Love With A Wonderful Guy."

LOL!!!! I just spit up my morning coffee!! Mark Steyn you are a gem.

He actually used a room that looked like the oval office?! Seriously?

Seriously. Here's a picture of the scene, with an uninvited guest photoshopped in. Good for a laugh!

Did I hear right that CNN refused to air the ad?

They interviewed John McCain instead?

I do not know, i was sleeping when it was to air. Received the link via email.

I had heard that McCain either had rebuttal AD or was going to be interviewed, either would have been better than having to watch Obama for 30 minutes.

Actually I would have found something constructive to do instead if I had not already been sleeping,LOL

His program (..sic Health care...) is aimed at making insurance more affordable by offering the choice of government-subsidized coverage similar to that in a plan for federal employees and other steps,

In the last debate, Obama said "If you are happy with your current health care plan, you will be able to keep it. But, if you need health care, we will make available to you the same plan that John and I get as members of the Senate."

Of course, no one ever asks him how he plans to pay for these add ons to the Senate health care plan. Does he just make it available for people to pay for it themselves, or does he plan for the gov't to pay for it? (I know, taxpayers will pay for it.)

While I am at it, where are the insurance companies who should be screaming bloody murder about being required to accept "previously existing conditions" when someone takes out a new policy? You are talking about huge payouts that don't currently exist. Obviously, Obama has worked it out where they will simply get higher premiums to write such coverage.

It was a disaster... timing was two weeks late... the world passed the time of this handout crap... he looked like a poser... like Earl Schribe selling paint.

I actually stopped listening to O years ago.

My standard reply to anyone asking did I listen to this dem or that dem:

If their lips are flapping they are lying or spinning, until proven otherwise.

Anything O says is a lie until proven to be the truth.

Hell O has no idea how he will fund any of his promises, does not matter he will lie to anyone and everyone to get in the oval office

Empty promises! So easy when no one asks the pertinent questions!

Loved this email that I got this morning:

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade in 2008. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide. Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offers ice cream, and 50 percent of America reacts like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other 50 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow.

A friends wife will not vote McCain/Palin, she thinks he looks to old and she is ugly.
She also believes that Obama will be bad for the country, but based on feelings in first sentence she will be forced to vote O.
I explained to friend that that argument is illogical, he agrees but has to lkive with the woman.

Better him than me. LOL

I did not see it but I am hearing radio talk show hosts and callers talking about the infomercial describing the dreadful living conditions in the featured country.

Did they say were to send donations for the CARE packages?

The only thing missing from his infomercial with all the miserable personal tales of woe forced upon the listening audience was the dustbowl from Oklahoma. It had a real FDR new deal feel about it, this infomercial. Ugh.
