A state agency has revealed that its checks of computer systems for potential information on "Joe the Plumber" were more extensive than it first acknowledged.
Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system.
The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine whether he was receiving welfare assistance or owed unemployment compensation taxes, she wrote.
Jones-Kelley made the revelations in a letter to Ohio Senate President Bill M. Harris, R-Ashland, who demanded answers on why state officials checked out Wurzelbacher.

Drudge should run this.
There was more than one person involved in this crime. Not only should these people be fired, they should also be investigated and charged. Joe needs a good lawyer and a large lawsuit.
This is just a taste of the “change” that we can expect from Obama.
“Not surprisingly, when a person behind in child support payments or receiving public assistance is receiving significant media attention which suggests that the person appears to have available financial resources, the Department risks justifiable criticism if it fails to take note and respond,” Jones-Kelley wrote.
She had to write it - she couldn’t say it with a straight face.
Utt ohh ... "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help in your "well being"
The Obama campaign has said it has no ties to the checks and supports investigations.
Utt ohh ... "I'm not from the government, but I'm running for overseer of the government ... I support transparency in reason for anyone who questions the government"
She said on Monday that her department frequently runs checks for any unpaid child support obligations "when someone is thrust quickly into the public spotlight."
Utt ohhh ... "The peons are squeaking, they must be shut down"
Jones-Kelly also has denied any connections between the computer checks on Wurzelbacher and her support for Obama. She donated the maximum $2,500 this year to the Obama campaign.
Tell it like it is, kiddo, don't hold back ... "I'm from the government, I support a particular party and candidate, and I'm going to use my government access to wreck you life if you don't support *my* candidate"
Looks like our Joe might own that plumbing business sooner than he thought.GO JOE GO and get every penny you can out of them!
I’d be happy if she winked at me!!!!
I'm sure she ran one on; Obama, Jesse Jackson, Bill Clinton, John Edwards ...
I actually went to some event several years ago in DC....it wasn't strictly a freeper event but Jim R was there as was Trixie ....there were complimentary Anne Coulter books on the tables.....it was great fun...any one go to that?
It is virtually impossible to fire a black person in today’s companies so I’m sure it’s impossible in government. There is no greater protected class in America’s HR departments. Reassignment is the usual solution.
I took a job in the early 90's in Philadelphia as head of a data center and inherited an older black man with one leg. He came into the office once every few months (mainly when he had business with the H.R. dept.) and always told me and everyone else there's no way we could fire a handicapped black man. He was right. We eventually had to buy him off with early retirement so he could pursue his fulltime passion of playing in his band in the Carribean.
Just the typical Palin-style full rectal plus exam for obama enemies, eh?
If he could get it filed by Friday and hit the presses over the weekend maybe this would show the Obamabots how The One will stop at nothing, or until we are all nothing.
Hope some high octane conservative lawyer takes Joe’s case pro bono and sues the state of Ohio for millions. These partisan bureaucrats should have been fired the day this snooping was revealed.
You got that right! We had a fellow who “misappropriated” about a quarter million in government property. Should have gone to prison. Instead got a 6 month PAID vacation and a promotion.
Quelle suprise.
BTW, a note to the media: And gee, before this there was NYS's Troopergate scandal. No wonder you ignored it, eh?
