I've searched various news sites and haven't found anything about this, and frankly I'm dubious about the source. But, I saw a "news item" during a short ride in an elevator, which said that McCain was buying a 30-second ad to run a "pre-buttal" just before Obama's 30-minute informercial tonight.
If true, I'm guessing it's a one-time announcement similar to the one where he congratulated Obama for winning the Democratic nomination, and was broadcast just prior to the Greek column-fest in Denver.
Anyone else heard about this, or what he might say? Another FR poster suggested what I thought was a great idea, and I'll propose my version:
"You won't be seeing any 30-minute ads from me on almost every network, because I can't afford them. At the beginning of this campaign, I pledged to accept public campaign funds, along with the limits that it imposed on my fundraising. Obama promised to do so, as well, then reneged on that promise. So, enjoy the show and be sure to vote for the candidate of your choice on November 4th. I'm John McCain, and I approved this message."
“Hello I’m John McCain and I’ll set up the bar with Budweiser if you all turn the TV off until the game starts.”
“You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone!”
I’m John McCain, and I approve this message.
I think they need 10 seconds after the speech....
John McCain...stares into the camera and screams
NOT!!! or NUT!!!! either will do.

thats true and whoever his handlers are they are doing a poor job. i hope they are not giving themselves a pat on the back for this. i think they should pay to run the john and cindy bio’s again.
LMFAO!!!!!!!!
That’s funny!
However, along the lines of "what McCain should say", he should also cover the illegal credit card donations, and show some screen shots of donors with names like Bin Ladin, Hitler, etc.
The networks likely charged him as much to run a 30 second ad as they did for the zero to run a full 30 minutes.
I wonder how Philly fans will react to yet another game delay..
And was probably charged 1 million for the 30 seconds.
I think if McCain wins he should repay the networks that pulled this sh#t by refusing them press credentials.
why didn’t mcpain do the same. surely some fund has the money for it.
That could be run by one of those 507s and would be very accurate.
Touche’
That would be a great intro!
OMG that would be so funny
"My fellow Americans, the record is clear: if you pay taxes, Barack Obama will raise them."
And then play the video/audio combo of $250,000...$200,000...$150,000..."
"and that's just in the space of a week! What's next? $100,000, $75,000? They are changing their message as their poll numbers fall. But that's all it is, my friends, a message...'just words'. Well we know what's next based on Obama's RECORD: he voted to raise taxes on Americans making just $42,000 a year. Any of you out there making that much, or a little more or less? Obama voted to raise your taxes. No matter what he says in his $3 million variety show you are about to see, or what animated charts or graphs try to show...facts are stubborn things. And the fact is, if you are in the middle class, or anywhere above that--Barack Obama voted to raise your taxes, and he will do so again.
Now Sen. Obama broke his promise to the American people to accept public financing, so he has nearly 7 times the cash to spend as do I. Several millions of those funds even came from foreign sources, which is illegal and profoundly disturbing. He is spending it by the tens of millions to try and fool you, the American people, that his words now will be his deeds in the future. But his deeds in the past are clear. Barack Obama voted to raise taxes on the middle class. And he will do so again."
Saw it on FoxNews...not that impressive. He needs to be positive on himself instead of bashing Obama. He needs to say some of the things he says to end his speeches. He needs to say, I believe in America, American values. We can, together, clean up DC corruption and overspending and that shining city on the hill stuff...
We’ve heard all McCain has to say against Obama. I’m sure Obama is going to spend his time positively outlining his “plans” and inspiring people to go vote FOR him. McCain needs to do the same at this point.
