OTTAWA - Momin Khawaja, the Ottawa computer specialist who plotted jihad from his government desk at foreign affairs, has been found guilty of five terrorism related charges. Ontario Superior Court Justice Douglas Rutherford ruled Wednesday that Mr. Khawaja, 29, played a significant role in a plot to bomb sites in London, England in 2004. Mr. Khawaja, the judge concluded in his verdict, was not guilty of the two most serious terrorism offences connected to his building of a radio-frequency device for London terror cell. The judge, however, found Mr. Khawaja guilty of two related, lesser Criminal Code offences. Mr. Khawaja, who displayed no outward signs of emotion throughout the trial,

“I conclude that Momim Khwawaja...was certainly aware of the group’s terrorist activities,” said Judge Rutherford, who heard the case without a jury.
Scarey guy
That’s good news fanfan.
I added your post to TM.
Thank you Cindy.
I’m happy about it too.
I was just going to reply to your post # 7....don’t know why it was removed.
It reminded me of something I’d heard a bit on radio the other day. Not much in the news about it. One down, hundreds just like him left.

Mexican police have arrested one of the alleged leaders of the notorious Arellano Felix drug trafficking cartel after a shootout in the violent city of Tijuana near the US border, an official said.
“As a result of the intelligence work by the Federal Police and the exchange of international information, Eduardo Arellano Felix was located in a house” in the US border area of Tijuana, Deputy Secretary of Police Intelligence Facundo Rosas told reporters on Sunday.
Arellano Felix, 52, alias “The Doctor,” is under indictment for drug smuggling by a California court in the United States which had offered a five-million-dollar reward for his capture. He is also sought by Interpol.
He is considered the number two in the cartel, known to be one of Mexico’s most ruthless, after taking control in 2006 along with his nephew Luis Fernando Sanchez Arellano.
Mexico has been gripped by a drugs turf war in recent years. Almost 4,000 people have been killed in drug-related violence since President Felipe Calderon took office some two years ago,

Yes Aunt B, I had it removed because I posted on the wrong thread.
I saw that about Felix while reading the report on the DEA site.
Very good news, I must say.
Thanks for sharing that with me.

Any idea if this fellow is going to do any serious time? And what happens to him once he finishes his sentence?
With any luck Canada will deport him, but I sha’n’t be holding my breath on that...
He will serve 5 1/2 years before being eligible for parole, but he was born here, so there is no where to deport him to.
When he finishes his sentence, he will be released. Canadians are angry about this sentence.
:-(
> When he finishes his sentence, he will be released. Canadians are angry about this sentence.
And working at Foreign Affairs, too! Shivers! 5 1/2 years will go fast and he’ll be at it again, working against Canada’s National interest. Unreal.

Lets hope we get a conservative majority government before then.
