Crist extends voting hours
This is a very big deal: Florida Governor Charlie Crist, to the shock and dismay of Florida Republicans, just moved to extend early voting hours, a move likely to widen the Democrats' lead under a program on which the Obama campaign has intensely focused.
"He just blew Florida for John McCain," one plugged in Florida Republican just told me.

i am wondering if the republicans see the current trend as benefiting from ramping up the republican GOTV effort.
in FL they have election day now. this is the equivalent of extending voting hours.
This also applies in military heavy areas.
think souther command in miami, airbase in tampa, and pensacola.

Not only do Republican voters have jobs but Republican GOTV volunteers have jobs. The extended hours help the GOP.

Early voting, motor voting, absentee voting.....crap. I have a new concept:
LATE VOTING! That's right, my friends, now you can vote after the election! Sign up at your friendly neighborhood ACORN office/pregnancy clinic.
Don't like the idea? Well, you must be one of those vote suppressors, then, that everybody talks about but nobody has ever seen.

I’m not buying the cause and effect. However, I’m generally against overly generous hours for voting since it’s doing your duty doesn’t necessarily have to be convenient.

In 2000 , we received zero calls from bush and in 2004 we received on call from bush but mccain people called us everyday for a week.
We worked in the Reno office for the last two weeks and the place is hopping with activity and the signs are flying out the door.

Question ? Does Florida Law state that only RINOS and DIMS can vote early ? Then this should also be of some benefit to Republicans .

This should help Republicans. We nearly all have jobs. Many of the other crowd are just layabouts—they have all the time in the world to vote.

‘...He literally may cost us the election...’
how ironic...imho, Crist’s endorsement of McCain (he supposedly was to endorse Rudy) significantly increased McCain’s chance of being chosen the ‘R’ candidate during the Primary.
Crist for Crist....period.

“I hope that he has been promised a spot in 0bamas cabinet for this action so we can get him out of Tallahassee”
Sounds a bit defeatist to me. If you get him out of Tallahasse due to your scenario... you will be worse off in the sunshine state, as will the rest of the country, Mr. Sunshine.
To: longtermmemmory
Are you telling me that each and every polling station in Florida is IMMUNE to voter fraud, and there are no possible scenarios where illegal votes or voters can “game the system”.....pad the results, lose the opponent's votes or “produce” the necessary votes to serve their agenda?
If you believe any “systems” operated by marginal civil servants and volunteers are “fool proof and vault secure” — you're naive or delusional... When so much depends on who gets elected -- it is best to expect the WORST from everyone while demanding the best tools or procedure to counter them...
Floriduh is once again a battle ground state and the long toothed Leftists will do their best to "win"......whatever it takes.

Let Politico name this so called political insider. Later hours for early voting is not bad for Republicans who want to vote after leaving work.

I any event, I do not like early voting as a matter of principle. We should have an Election DAY. First Tuesday after First Monday, when the nation as a whole renders a verdict.Maybe, but the last time I voted on Election Day was in 1988, I think. But I haven't missed a single general election since 1980. It is very convenient, especially if you don't know for sure where you are ever going to be on Election Day.
