Crist extends voting hours
This is a very big deal: Florida Governor Charlie Crist, to the shock and dismay of Florida Republicans, just moved to extend early voting hours, a move likely to widen the Democrats' lead under a program on which the Obama campaign has intensely focused.
"He just blew Florida for John McCain," one plugged in Florida Republican just told me.
No he didn’t. We will prevail. He’s a schmuck for doing this, but we needn’t get so hung up on these things when more pressing criminal matters need to be clamoured over in places like Pennsylvania and Ohio...and Virginia, and Missouri, and......phew!
What the eff??
Translation:
McCain has no grassroots Get Out The Vote network.
Right?
He’s still got a week to promote a positive, proactive campaign. “The Maverick” theme was demolished on his bailout conduct.
Could Ben Smith be any bigger a whore for Democrats?
I find your finding to be crap. If you are eligible to vote, then vote. If they get more votes they win. If you can’t win, you can’t.
Democracy is about giving everyone a chance to vote once.
First I’d like to specifially understand why this is bad? Could it be that Crist has inside info that this would help Republican voters?
I’m missing the logic here. How does extending early voting for Floridians give Florida to Obama? I haven’t really seen any data that shows early voting is helping one party more than the other. What am I missing?
MCain hater comment !
WE received 6 calls for absentee ballots from McCain!
Hmmm - not sure it hurts that bad, if at all. He opened the centers later. Now people with jobs will find early voting more convenient. People with jobs will not support Obama.
“Translation: McCain has no grassroots Get Out The Vote network.”
I agree that there’s no good reason Republicans can’t be early voting in Florida right along the Dems. But for whatever reason, that’s the reality. So for a Republican governor to hand a major procedural victory to the Democratic candidate is mind-boggling.
Funny, Repubulicans didn’t get “Get out the Vote” money for ACORN and other government-dependent voters.
Criso, along with Mr. Kennedy here in CA, are two huge RINO’s.
Graham, Hagel...maggots.
Ok, since Republican voters typical HAVE JOBS and need the extra time at the end of the day to vote, WHY IS THIS BAD?
Sorry, I don’t see how this is going to help the Dems. Early voting is generally much more orderly, much better scrutinized (Florida is a photo ID state), and the people where I voted early, judging by their bumper stickers, were overwhelmingly GOP.
I think this is going to prevent a lot of shenanigans on Election Day, if only because the crowds will be smaller. If the GOP wants to blame anybody, they should blame their local orgs, who have dropped the ball on getting poll watchers and poll workers.
I’m going to be a poll watcher at early voting tomorrow, and I noticed that all of the busy (evening) hours were already taken by Dems. Apparently there’s only one poll-watcher on per shift, not one from each party. As for Election Day, I signed up and they didn’t call me (and others) in time to get my name approved by the Board of Elections. The state GOP organization stinks, and most of the county orgs aren’t very good, either!
“Im missing the logic here. How does extending early voting for Floridians give Florida to Obama?”
All I know is the Obama camp asked him to do it and he did it. If that doesn’t bother you, fine.
Ok, does this country has ANY LAW that we can abide by.
I mean really, the country I came from has more laws but no one bothered. But we admired U.S.!
Now this in the U.S.? End of the civil societies is complete.
