The McCain campaign is definitely demoralized right now. The blame game has begun.

There is no question that there is a rift between Sarah Palin's camp and that of John McCain inside the Republican campaign, sources tell ABC News.

And you are seeing people within the McCain campaign starting to look to the future.

Not only Palin, but many of the McCain staffers, as well, are circulating their resumes and pointing the finger.

Whenever people in the campaign are starting to worry more about their own reputations rather than whether they're going to win in seven days, there is a significant problem.

One thing looks certain to me. The “true conservative” faction can’t win in most places, WITHOUT your so called rino faction. In other words, you need their votes.

So if name calling makes you feel better, so be it, but it doesn’t alter the situation.

I read a long article about the home mortgage saga, and just who were the congress members that consistently, from the start, made warnings. They were almost all what you label rinos. Shays, McCain, Leach, Hagel, Dole, Sununu, Martinez and few others.

Notably absent were any of the hallmark “true conservatives.”

Republicans and conservatives need all the votes they can get, including independents and some democrats. However people resent being called names.

The democrats have become unified towards the goal of winning elections.

The GOP should find a way to do so as well. A lot of ground has been lost, during the Bush administration. This leaves a lot of ground to make up.

Novak wrote a column about how the GOP was shocked that Paulson staff were hard core Dems and it scared them.
Bush ignored there warnings.
Even my inlaw that works in the SF Fin District knew about the Morgan vs Lehman dispute and were stunned that Paulson was allowed to overreact and scream Panic over the Morgan taking out of Lehmans .

You called it. The media has three story templates about Republicans.

1) The Republicans are tearing themselves apart.
2) The Republicans are starving school children.

Unfortunately, since Mediascum like to flock together, so long as Nicolle Wallace’s aim is to return to the filthy nest of Mediascum, then leaking and backstabbing against Palin and/or others in the campaign would not be a hindrance to future MSM employment — it would in fact be a huge plus.

That’s just one of many reasons why it was crazy to bring someone FROM the media into the McCain/Palin campaign...... the real interest of Nicolle Wallace may be to please her MSM buddies and return to their warm embraces, rather than to do the best possible job on behalf of Governor Palin and the McCain/Palin ticket.

The "rift" story, if it's true, reminds me of department store management cat fights occurrences during the '90s. It's nothing brand new, and that's how management is done now in most organizations.
