The McCain campaign is definitely demoralized right now. The blame game has begun.
There is no question that there is a rift between Sarah Palin's camp and that of John McCain inside the Republican campaign, sources tell ABC News.
Watch George Stephanopoulos on "Nightline" tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC
And you are seeing people within the McCain campaign starting to look to the future.
Not only Palin, but many of the McCain staffers, as well, are circulating their resumes and pointing the finger.
Whenever people in the campaign are starting to worry more about their own reputations rather than whether they're going to win in seven days, there is a significant problem.

Exactly! Wouldn’t trust Politico if they told me the sky was blue — I would go check and it probably would be black and raining.
Or you can watch his wife on a rerun of "In Living Color".
I am with you — I don’t trust Politico at all.
Cripes, pissant, would you PLEASE stop being a shill for the DBM’s desperate unsourced “McCain’s campaign is melting down” garbage? Seriously. If you can’t see their fear — driven by real poll internals, the massive crowds Palin has been drawing, and their ploy here of trying to demoralize the GOP voting base as a last ditch effort to save their (anti-)messiah, then I’m shocked. You usually post good stuff, but this is getting ridiculous.
Let’s see - a few days ago the Politico blog wrote a story with an imaginary unnamed source who allegedly said that Palin has gone “Rogue.” The following day this is incorporated into the Obama staff talking points and issued to the Media outlets, who then embellish this into an imaginary divide-and-conquer war between McCain and Palin.
If there’s any schism between candidates I would say it’s between the Obama and Biden staffs. After Biden “went Rogue” and claimed that the U.S. would be subject to an attack by foreign countries if Obama were elected, Obama took the extraordinary step of calling a press conference to minimize the damage of Biden’s “rhetorical flourishes.” Further after Biden is in over his head in the Barbara West interview, the Obama staff takes another extraordinary step by forbidding Biden to have any further interviews in anything other than the most controlled circumstances. My sense is that the Obama staffers are coming down hard on the Biden staffers. Why else would flunkies like Stephenopoulis be going to such extremes as in this article?
“This all started with Politico and has grown since then.”
Yes..but them again...the sheeple wont know that..only an internet political geek knows that...
Only an idiot would be demoralized by Clinton’s spokesgirl stephie.
Sounds about right.
"When your VP selection is more widely favored by the base of your party then you are screwed."
Bah, as far as that goes so was Cheney.
When I saw this headline, I laughed right out loud. They HOPE.
Then maybe I’m misunderstanding what you are doing here. Saw this post, too: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2117134/posts Seems like you are beating the DBM’s drum of “McCain is done, Palin is a diva and wrecked the campaing.” Or are you doing a “know your enemy” set of posts? In that case, I appologize.
PS Maybe a barf alert or two would be in order?
And I will say that we would have been much better of with Cheney as the President and W being his errand boy.....
FR posters and other media people are falling for the same scam again after just watching hillary getting the same treatment .
Let’s get real here. McCain has run a bad campaign. Palin is about the only thing keeping him close. This is about stopping Obama, not electing McCain and that is not a winning situation.
Really. ABC is so full of it.
I notice that Steponallofus seems to be right in the middle of all This Week...
Ain’t that the truth!
:’)
Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft... the media is so good at destroying what’s good in this country. Watching them do it to Governor Palin now is like -I don’t know- torture.
Yep. Obama and Axelrod are using the same playbook.
