There are no surprises in California where Barack Obama enjoys a huge lead over John McCain.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of California voters shows Obama leading McCain by 27 percentage points, 61% to 34% (see crosstabs). Obama has led in all nine California polls conducted this year. Earlier this month, McCain reached the 40% level of support for only the second time all year but still trailed by 16.
In California, 45% of voters name economic issues as most important for Election 2008. Domestic issues such as Social Security and health care are seen as most important by 20% while 17% say national security issues are their highest priority.
The Liberals are running so scared here...Rush said that Obama leads in early voting by less than 1,000 votes, assuming all parties voted straight line Republican/Democrat..which he thinks could have some McCain votes in Democratic envelopes.
Geez - I thought it was bad here in Jersey where he’s up 17.
For purposes of comparison, Kerry beat Bush by 10% in CA in 2004. Gore beat Bush by 11.8% in 2000. And Clinton won over Dole by almost 13% in 1996.
I’m 40 and I remember California being a moderate red state not so long ago? What the heck has happened?
Kalifornia has always been a lost cause, but 27%??
Scott Rasmussen has zero credibility left. Hoepfully, his name is history after 2008.
Enjoy bankruptcy you idiots! Ever since Bill Clinton made 150 trips to CA in his first term in office you have been blue.
Meanwhile, no one can afford a home there, traffic sucks, and now the greenskeepers at Torrey Pines are going to have to call the BK Trustee’s office every morning to see if its ok to cut the greens! What a waste.
17% say national security...haha...geez. Now I can see The economy #1, but NS should be 2. It’s not exactly like these next few years will be smooth sailing like the early 90’s.
Even Dole only lost by 13 in 96. This poll is just another example that Rassmussen is totally discredited.
“Geez - I thought it was bad here in Jersey where hes up 17.”
Jim Florio was up by 14 in 1993, and lost to Christie Whitman by 1
Do they not even care how stupid they look with these polls? You would think Rasmussen would be worried about his future in the polling business if he is shown to be so completely off the mark????
Beyond silly.
Actually this poll makes since. Obamas entire 5% national lead in Rasmussen can be contributed to the Caliwhorenias.
Rasmussen must have polled 1,000 black women in Los Angeles and Oakland who are on welfare with five kids each and no husband.

RE: “When can we give California back to Mexico? They are a lost cause”
**********
Hey, can you wait a bit until some of us move to other states before giving CA back to Mexico? Believe it or not, there are a few Republicans/Conservatives in CA!
Here is a sample of Rasmussens polls in the Democrat Primary:
New Hampshire:
Ras: Obama +7.0
Final: Clinton +2.6
California:
Ras: Obama +1.0
Final: Clinton +9.6
Texas:
Ras: Obama +1.0
Final: Clinton +3.5
Then they’d all stream into Utah and Nevada... no thanks.
If you look at the county map in 2004, looks like you could just shave off the coast and you’d have a right nice state.
Obama 70%, McCain 20% Undecided 10%Poll was taken on 10-24-08 and consisted of 850 likely voters who work at the NY Times and MSNBC. Margin of error, 0%
