Obama, who arrived on his campaign aircraft around 7:20 p.m., immediately traveled under police escort to the Punahou-area apartment of his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who is reportedly gravely ill with cancer.

After an hourlong visit, the Hawaii-born senator left for the Hyatt Regency Waikiki.

Obama expects to leave tonight and return to the campaign trail in Nevada tomorrow

Remember, it was me, Crazy Leo who predicted this:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2113209/posts

Here is part of the prediction:
Barack’s true father is Frank Marshall Davis which is why Barack has been hiding his real birth certificate which will verify US Citizenship.

October 23: Barack heads to Hawaii.

October 24: “Sick Granny” says, “There is something you must know. Your real father is Frank Marshall Davis.”

October 25 and Sunday, October 26: Barack is in “shock.” Barack will have a look of “grief” at rallyies.

October 27-28: MSM will say they are hearing “whispers.”

October 29: Barack addresses the nation during his 30 minutes of television time that the campaign has purchased. The last 10 minutes of the program will focus on who Barack really is. Barack Davis. He will say he has been a victim. Tears will follow.

October 30 - November 2: The “revelation” will dominate airways. McCain could set off a nuclear bomb but it won’t matter. Everyone will be talking about Barack’s poor situation.

Tuesday, November 4th: Barry wins in a landslide because he picks up 10,000,000 sympathetic voters.

Here is your October Surprise. We’ve been outsmarted by the Democrats.

Why do we expect BO to have any feelings toward his grandmother?

He is a psychopath - his focus is the DNR is in place and she is unable to communicate verbally because of the heavy pain medications they are giving her.

I think he needed to make sure Grandma isn’t able to speak the truth in her last days.

I feel badly for the load on his sister knowing what he is.

Hopefully his mother is beyond caring now - and comfortable in her release from what must have been some troubling years knowing what the real Obama has become.

I promise you there is some internal polling data that they have picked up on that shows Obama is underperforming with women and/or elderly voters.

I will say a prayer for his grandmother, but this doesn’t have anything to do with her condition. He doesn’t have a record or achievements to point at to assuage doubts about his leadership. The only card he has to play is this, combined with raising a stink about sarah palin’s wardrobe.

Both campaigns see this same demographic as being the last one’s moving in this election as Palin is out with her disabled/special needs policy speech. I am heartened to know that someone in the mccain camp has a clue where the race stands and is doing something to win it. At times, I find myself questioning Rick Davis’s ability to run this campaign. For once we see an aggressive move in a meaningful area.

The Hyatt Regency Waikiki is 3 miles from Granny’s pad-tops.

He’s not going back again before tomorrow???

The last week of my husband's life, our grandchildren wouldn’t leave his room.

I shall never forget, one of the granddaughters is a harpist. She brought a small harp to the hospital, and played incessantly, with tears streaming down her face. She knew how much her granddaddy loved to hear her music.

This appears to be a serious family matter. There’s no question that Michelle Obama, BARRY and their two daughters should be at grandmother Dunham’s side during this very difficult time. It says volumes to me about Michelle’s sense of caring especially after having echoed her loving nature when talking about her daddy’s bad health.

Johnny Fairplay told everyone that his grandmother had died while he was on the island to garner their sympathy in order to win one of the challenges. It worked. They let him win that one.

Sorry, missed part of my answer.

Hospice care at home is available (I assume Hawaii has the same setup as California). It is an assistance to the family. Many older people would much rather be at home.

I agree with you with regard to a HOSPITAL — but a hospice is a whole different story... for one thing HOSPICES generally allow relatives to stay in the same room with their loved ones 24/7 if they like... but in addition they have medical staff to ease the patient’s pain, provide food, counseling... a hospice assures that your loved one has soemone with them at all times company (even relatives have to sleep sometime)... also, only medical personnel can safely and humanely manage the awful pain of cancer... it is just my opinion based on personal experience — you are entitled to your own opinion of course — and i apologize if i expressed my opinion in a manner that offended you. It is obvoiously a very personal matter.

FWIW — I stayed at a hospice with my grandfather (24/7) for 6 days as he lost his fight with lung-cancer. He was a religious man, and the hospice was run by Catholic lay people — he took a lot of solace in meeting with his priest there every day — and so did i.

I thought she fell and broke her hip (not uncommon for women in that age group).

Many times it is the hip that spontaneously fractures, resulting in the fall.

Conservative media figures allege Obama’s Hawaii trip is about discredited birth-certificate rumors, not his ailing grandmother

Hear ya - The entire "visit" to his "typical white" grandma was not only suspiciously low-key, but Hussein would surely have used it as a photo-op to help his campaign. The MSM backed off him totally. WHY NOW??

IF he had visited Granny for more than ten minutes, I'd be shocked....and probably half that time was probably spent begging, "Grandma - where's my birth certificate?? Come on - REMEMBER, D@MMIT you old white bag!! I NEED IT...NOW!!"

I was just remembering my husband’s time - they told me hearing was the last to go and so I played endless music for him. He would loved to hear a harp being played such as you write - what a beautiful instrument to hear.

He was a young man and had lots of people visiting him but the ones who were most upset were the staff who don’t like to see someone young dying. He had a misdiagnosed brain tumor (glioblastoma - yes the earphone controversy) and from correct diagnosis to death - nine days.

Hospice kept him on morphine and he was comfortable - my only time alone with him was when I snuck back around midnight and spent the nite with him before the people came.
People who do love another want to be with them until they are finally released.

I feel badly for Obama’s grandmother - it seems he has cut her off from friends and family saying goodbye.

I don’t know how the man can live with the weight of his choices. How can one be driven by such ugly power.
