I was talking with my grandchild the other day on the phone and we started to talk about school.
With all the comments over the years and especially this election about schools and the attempt of teachers around the world to influence their students with biased principles and ideals:
I asked,"Have you talked about the election and Obama?
The reply,"Yes, but McCain too"
"So, you have talked about both candidates?"
"Yes we have, and you know what?"
"What?,"I asked.
"I like McCain, he seems like a nice man, but that Obama seems to lie about everything."
Wow, I thought. I went on to see if they had gotten their idea from another source, like their teacher, or their parents. But no, it turns out it was their own opinion.
It is amazing what God gives us as children that we lose once we gain knowledge of the world. And the truth is seen through the eyes of a child. Wouldn't it be great if the rest of the world could see this as they do.
Glad to hear this.
the first election campaign I remember was reagan vs mondale. I didn’t know anything about the soviet union or tax policy but I knew the Republicans were pro-life and the democrats weren’t, they were for abortion. How could I not be a republican?
That is so true.
My 8yr old says the same thing about Obama. Out of the mouth of babes.
I had a similar experience with my 9 year old son the other day.
I was driving him to football practice, and Mark Levin was on the radio talking about BHO’s tax plan.
My third grader said “When I grow up I’ll be rich, and I wish that all the President’s in my life are Republican because I think it’s wrong for government to take our money”.
I told him he was right. In general (in an ideal world), Republicans want people to keep the money they earn, and the Democrat party wants to take money from people who earn it, and give it to people who don’t.
He replied “Yeah, I bet there are bunches of hobos and they’re all yelling (as he pumps his fist in the air) ‘O-bam-a, O-bam-a’”.
I told him he is wise beyond his years and has a very good understanding of how the world works.
