"I am very excited about the McCain-Palin ticket, simply because they support the values that mean the most to me," Ms. King said. "It is a plus to me that Sarah Palin is a woman because I've been elected to office as a wife and mother. I've been appointed to office as a woman and at the time I was a mother and became a grandmother."
Ms. King said her experience taught her she could both be a good mother and still serve the public. This is something she has in common with Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, McCain's running mate.
However, the most important reason she is backing the McCain-Palin ticket is its commitment to the pro-life cause.

It would be helpful if McCain would use her endorsement in a TV spot AD.
I'm so proud the niece of Dr. King is endorsing the GOP.

And it won’t get out because Alveda has been a champion of the unborn for decades. She’s one of those Christians the left and media love to hate.

If Palin/MCcain talk about it on the stump, the media can’t ignore it. There’s just so much to talk about.

God Bless her.
Does Rush know about this, does Hannity know about this, does Glenn Beck know about this, does Mark Levin know about this?
In fact do any Conservatives who do any kind of commentary know about this?

I appreciate that she took a good look at the core values of each team, and made a decision. I have always said, if Blacks broke out 50/50 to 60/40 for candidates, I wouldn’t find fault with it. It’s the 95/5 votes that have me thinking they are not looking at issues before coming to decisions.
I’m glad she came down on the side of McCain/Palin here. If right to life is what motivates her, then I think she made a wise choice.

I can only pray that, over time, more black women start to think like her, and see where the “progressives” are leading us: back into slavery. Oh, it’ll be a nice slavery, with a 50” TV and free food stamps, but it will still be slavery. And their souls will be destroyed because they never learn the basics or feel the joy of earning your own way.

I've heard her speak in person and met her briefly. Alveda is smart, engaging and a free woman who sees abortion for what it is, evil.
MLK would be proud of his niece I think.

The annoying thing is that many Blacks are pro-life. The trouble is that many of them have incredible difficulty breaking out of that mindset that says if you vote Republican, you're a traitor to your race.
Alveda King has no such difficulty. If you're not pro-life, she won't support you. Very courageous woman.
