Acorn Report Raises Issues of Legality (NY TIMES)
New York Times ^ | 10/22 | Stephanie Strom

An internal report by a lawyer for the community organizing group Acorn raises questions about whether the web of relationships among its 174 affiliates may have led to violations of federal laws.

The group, formally known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has been in the news over accusations that it is involved in voter registration fraud, charges it says are overblown and politically motivated.

Republicans have tried to make an issue of Senator Barack Obama’s ties to the group, which he represented in a lawsuit in 1995. The Obama campaign has denied any connection with Acorn’s voter registration drives.

The June 18 report, written by Elizabeth Kingsley, a Washington lawyer, spells out her concerns about potentially improper use of charitable dollars for political purposes; money transfers among the affiliates; and potential conflicts created by employees working for multiple affiliates, among other things.

Letters to the MSM can help. Keep the pressure on, especially on Obama’s links to corruption.

Nothing to worry about. Obama can give them all pardons on January 21, 2009.

One wonders if most Americans are even aware that this kind of crap happens in this country. Oh, the poor folks just go to vote like us, after they sip their lattes and check their Crackberries to see if their other poor friends have emailed them.

The revolution is starting. Sadly, some won’t be aware until their accountant shows them their return. Or the cops show up for their guns. Or the state takes away their kids to Obambi Camp.

Not on this one, he will need a pardon, Obama the fixer and criminal communist, will have to answer as well.

He will be held accountable by us, Freerepublic until he is taken down. Another Impeachment if he were to win would be assured!

Obama can deny his training, working for or defending ACORN and call them “in the past” like he does his friends, but the $832,000 dollars the he finally had to admit to the FEC was not for staging and lighting is an ongoing relationship. Crooks working with crooks!

IMPEACHMENT FOR CRIMINAL ACTS! INTERNATIONAL LAWS BROKEN IN KENYA! VOTER FRAUD IN USA! REZKO!

Let me say, if Obama were to win, Freerepublic and all of its allies will have to a duty, to pound The Courts, Media, World Courts, and all embassy’s Worldwide, friends and foes alike, For immediate Impeachment, and Criminal hearings.

This must include Media Cover ups on a stolen election and fraud in Polling results.

We will be working with Various legal groups to bring in representation, and will begin educating those who wish to make a change from all races, creeds, Worldwide.

The obvious course is up to us, The Citizens to bring back a rule of LAW! I will be setting up an alternative Shadow
Gov. Blog, and I am sure Rush and others will follow the campaign.

How ACORN destroyed the US economy (very well-researched, with links)

FR Posted on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 1:33:20 PM by Columbo

In 2005, the Leadership for a Changing World awards program named Bruce Dorpalen, Director of Housing Counseling ACORN Housing, as a national finalist. Their reason for honoring Dorpalen: "In 1985, to address the issue of mortgage redlining in low-income and minority neighborhoods, Bruce Dorpalen and a team of ACORN community leaders negotiated a community reinvestment agreement with a Philadelphia bank.

This agreement changed the way mortgages were underwritten, recognizing the income, savings, and credit of lower-income borrowers and eliminating barriers to qualifying for a mortgage."

In 1997, the National Housing Institute also credited ACORN with inventing a new mechanism for underwriting very low income mortgages: "ACORN Housing Corporation developed an innovative financing mechanism previously nonexistent in the marketplace by convincing Fannie Mae to tailor its underwriting criteria to meet homesteaders' needs. Local banks could then write the mortgages and be able to sell them to Fannie Mae."

ACORN, by use of protest, pressured banks to sign into this newly designed low-income lending scheme: "The ACORN convention in New York in 1992, the "ACORN-Bank Summit," was organized to hammer out deals with giant banks like Continental, First Fidelity, Mellon, PriMerit, and Chemical. Representatives signed agreements to establish programs for low- and moderate-income people to qualify for mortgages in their communities. Citibank, the nation's largest bank, did not participate.

In response, the conventioneers held a lively action at Citibank's downtown Manhattan headquarters, and won a meeting to negotiate for similar programs. The meeting also led to increased Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac funding from the secondary mortgage market to ACORN neighborhoods. These efforts led to billions of dollars of primary and secondary mortgage money flowing into ACORN communities over a period of several years." --SNIP--

The large National banks signed "Affordable Lending Alliances" with ACORN and Fannie during the late 1990-s and the early 2000's including $35 billion from J.P. Morgan Chase,WAMU, and $100 Billion from Citigroup. Also see: http://www.acornhousing.org/TEXT/mortgage1.php Conclusion: ACORN invented the low-income mortgage mechanism that brought our lending market to the brink of collapse. By use of political pressure ACORN forced private institutions to abandon their previous lending standards and enter into ill-advised agreements with both ACORN and Fannie Mae.

What is still unknown and needing investigation is the profit ACORN may have realized from counseling their low-income clients into these loans which were then sold to Fannie Mae. Also needing investigation is the use ACORN made of its political arm to pass favorable housing initiatives, including its sister organizations like the New Party and the Working Families Party.

“She also found problems with governance of Acorn affiliates. “Board meetings are not held, or if they are, minutes are not kept, or if minutes are kept, they never make it into the files,” she wrote.”

what a shock - not.

Proof of the obamination’s long history with ACORN

_Also - Scroll down to piece from last Dec about promising - on tape - that, not only will he call them in to help set policy in his reign, but he won't wait until he takes office to do so.)
Newly uncached article - PROOF of Obama’s ties with ACORN starting years ago...(remember, Ayers was a founder of ACORN)

http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/7203

and in other article, below, in his own words.

ACORN - where OBAMA was deeply involved - intimidated bankers to give “NINJA” (No Income, No Job, No Assets) and LIAR (where a lender does not require “documentation” of employment, income or credit history...in his own words -

“I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.” — Barack Obama, Speech to ACORN, November 2007

http://iusbvision.wordpress.com/2008/09/30/obama-sued-citibank-under-cra-to-force-it-to-make-bad-loans/

Obama was the attorney for ACORN when they sued Citibank to force them to issue NINJA loans.

So Obama RAN Project Vote voter registration for ACORN, infamous for voter registration fraud! So THAT’s what a “community organizer” does?

And it's those NINJA loans that were the undermining of Fannie and Freddy and the economic crash.

And Obama is the second highest recipient of funds from Fannie and Freddy.

He up to his eyeballs in this economic collapse and the media is convincing the dumb public that he's the Knight in Shining Armor who will save us - and McCain is the culprit.

and just last December:

ACORN will have input into his administration -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vJcVgJhNaU&feature=related

starting at minute 1:33, OBAMA CAUGHT SAYING ACORN AND FRIENDS WILL SHAPE HIS PRESIDENTIAL AGENDA

“You will all have input in the agenda ...” of my presidency

AND = “... Obama hid $800,000 payment to ACORN through “Citizen Services, Inc.”
By Michelle Malkin • August 22, 2008 11:46 AM “

The Times is being careful with this one - it's in the hands of some serious investigators, but what is done with the results depends on who is looking at them. Having carefully delayed this until that has its best chance of being under a Democratic administration gives them the best chance to minimize the damage.

We'll hear the whole "it's just a few rogue individuals and some silly administrative mistakes" dismissal beginning right around the second week in November. By inauguration day the whole thing will have been swept under the carpet.

FREEPER COLOMBO'S RESEARCH: ACORN and the Democratic party have a very strange symbiotic/parasitic relationship. On one hand the democratic party pushes for ACORN funding and uses ACORN to get the vote out etc. On the other hand ACORN is holding the Democratic party hostage through what they term as a “viable threat of exit” or the fact that the democrats could not keep power without them. ACORN, through its own political arm (the past New Party and the Working Families Party) has sought to field more and more socialist/progressive candidates as Democrats, thus swinging the party decidedly to the left.

==============================

COMMENTS--- ACORN uses "profiling" techniques WRT who it signs up to vote. Canvassars are briefed on who they can and cannot sign up to vote. CASE IN POINT One FReeper reported being approached by an ACORN canvassar---when the FReeper said he voted Repub, the ACORN canvassar sped off, wanting nothing to do with Repubs. This is an actionable violation of ACORN's non-profit, non-partisan status.
