Taliban gunmen killed a Christian aid worker in Kabul on Monday, and the militant group said it targeted the woman because she was spreading her religion.

The dual South African-British national worked with handicapped Afghans and was killed in the western part of Kabul as she was walking to work around 8 a.m., officials said.

The gunmen, who were on a motorbike, shot the woman in the body and leg with a pistol, said Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the slaying.

"This woman came to Afghanistan to teach Christianity to the people of Afghanistan," militant spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told The Associated Press. "Our (leaders) issued a decree to kill this woman. This morning our people killed her in Kabul."

The woman's aid group SERVE — Serving Emergency Relief and Vocational Enterprises — identified her as Gayle Williams, 34, in a statement on its Web site.

Oh yes - I forgot - little women spreading the faith of God and his son Jesus - that's a real threat. Shooting her in the leg and then the chest - I see, the big bad Taliban and the rest of Islam is afraid of the Christian.

Again - I am astonished that these reports don't make the main stream and a call for a crusade!

As long as Christians remain silent - these types of atrocities will continue - and one day it will take place here in the US!!!

When I heard about this at first I was shocked. Then I was angry, thinking all kinds of unchristian thoughts about vengenance and retribution against these %$^£$%. But just now, I reread it and I think you have absolutely hit it on the head. These tough Islamists, who reccomend violence in the name of a “religion of peace” are basically scared of Christians. They are so insecure, so unsure of the tenets of their own religion, that they bolster it by murder. Even through all the horror of this event, I am rather reassured by that.

Can’t last 10 seconds in any military engagement, heck, Barney Fife could kick their a$$, but they sure are proud of their abilities in gunning down unarmed women.

Shooting her in the leg and then the chest

I'm sure Barrack Hussein Obama will be along to issue a statement
condemning this sort of act.
(/SARC)

But seriously, I suspect his tarring of people bitterly clinging
to guns and their religion are only a problem in what he'd call
"blidghted, backward pockets of America".

Osama bin Laden & his Taliban allies would like to form a modern caliphate. Perhaps we should encourage this to happen? If there were to be a Caliph then there might also be some sort of internal enforcement mechanism to keep the Islamic terrorists in line by interpret Islam in a manner consistent with the civilized world. A caliph would be expected to strongly condemn a killing like this...

The first order of business for the new caliph would be to turn over Osama & Mullah Omar. Hey, I can dream can’t I?

What I meant besides the hijackings - is that a Moslem could walk right up to another and shot them because they are not of the crescent moon - not be held liable because the government allowed Sharia courts that would protect the Moslem - and a society that would turn a democracy into a theocracy! Yes - we have been attacked - but the day-to-day religious murders that continue to occur as they have done in Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghan, and other Asian Pacific countries has not yet been experienced - but I’m sure it will... I understand you were being cynical -— 9/11 was one day of attacks - think about a daily occurrence...
