I agree, but the “drive by’s” will make anything with it to keep this crap going for the next 2 wks. He did advise Obama some in the primary. Who cares. He’s a liberal.

To be forthright and honest I have to say I’m retired military. Did not serve with Gen Powell, but have known a couple of people who were in proximity to him. Their opinion of him is top drawer.

Personally, I think Bush treated Powell badly. Sure as heck left him high and dry after Powell’s UN Iraq speech. Powell did not leave the Bush Administraton because he objected to the Iraq war—IMO. He left because of the minimalist way it was being fought. Powell was a product of the Vietnam war and he coined something called the “Powell Doctrine”. It’s two main premises are: 1. Going to war requires political support from both parties. 2. Once the decision to go to war was taken the President and the country must engage the enemy with immediate and overwhelming force. The object: End the war as soon as possible.

Certainly the first element was met when a majority of Republicans and Democrats signed the war resolution. That many dems, subsequently withdrew their support is another issue. But the second tenet was never met. Hence, the war dragged on and on before Bush finally agreed to committing more troops—otherwise known as the surge.

If Powell should endorse the Marxist Onada today, it does not negate his past. Everything I’ve been told and read indicates Powell is an intelligent and honorable man.

I do not know what your life experience has been Mobile Vulgus. But I sense you have little or no military experience. If this is true then you have no basis for declaring Powell to have been a bad general. His performance as sec state may be another matter, but I’m not sure the jury is in on that quite yet.

You know Mobile Vulgus, the dems are past masters at the politics of personal destruction. I’m not impressed with so-called pubbies who engage in the same behavior.

If Powell and McCain have this long-time friendship, I doubt if the General will taint it with betrayal. The ties of personal bonding plus military comeraderie among veterans is generally so strong as to be impenetrable in most cases.

Gen. Powell HAS to know that Obama is an empty-suit, pretentious upstart with no qualifications at all to be Commander-in-Chief, especially in these perilous times.

I look for a meaningful endorsement for John McCain if Powell is going to endorse at all.

I will consider him a political coward who isn't putting his country first if he sits on the fence tomorrow.

Screw Colon Powell and the donkey he rode in on: he was a lousy general and a dangerously bad Sec’y of State.

He’s either stupid or a closet Dimocrat - or both.

If he endorses Obama he is a god...if he endorses McCain out comes the footage of his WMD statement to the UN in regards to Iraq

Why does the headline say he will endorse McCain if no one knows yet?

That is the best assessment I have read about Powell’s endorsement. 100% spot on.

By endorsing Obama he is welcomed with open arms back in to the liberal world. No more Uncle Tom comments from his fellow black liberals. He would suddenly be loved by all liberals, and his WMD speech forgotten forever by them.

Hey, no matter if he was a good or bad SOS,if he does endorse John McCain it will give him a good boost and may finally seal the deal for him. Let’s wait and see what happens.

The first question that must be asked if that is the case is why is he endorsing Obama if he donated the maximum amount to McCain?

Who cares what he thinks?

A lot of people have a high regard for him. Not here maybe but in the rest of the nation. He could help sway a number of undecideds. But I'm not all that confident of whom he will endorse, if anyone.

08/08/2007 2300.00 McCain

That was over a year ago...perhaps over the course of a year, Powell's wife has seen what happens to those who don't worship the messiah Obama!

You have seen what the MSM/Obama cabal has done to Sarah...see what the NYT is doing to Cindy McCain:

It was a big mistake to stop Desert Storm. We were on a roll. JMHO.

It's true, What we have done in the last five years we could have done then, maybe better. But 41 had this notion of the New World Order in which the US would be just one more in the happy company of nations, playing well together and strolling peacefully into a millenial future.
