Vanity: What's up with Fox?
Fox

Posted on 10/15/2008 7:58:29 PM PDT by Chet 99

After the debate was over, the "conservative" pundits immediately trashed McCain. This was followed by Frank Luntz, who declared that is focus group idiots loved Obama (of course Luntz also said Palin was the knockout debate winner and McCain would surge in the polls after her debate).

This is supposed to be the conservative network? I switched over to PBS, and Clarence Page was giving more credit to McCain's performance than the Fox pundits. Same on CNN.

Would you prefer a news station to blow smoke up your ......?

Krauthammer just summed it up perfectly saying that McCain walked away from things like Ayers, infanticide etc... when he was handed a perfect opportunity to slam Obama.

It’s the truth that you WON”T get form any other news station.

they are idiots on Fox. They don't see what is important in a debate. Message stupid.

Even John McCain knows more of the facts than the residule of the complascent, slothful yet semi-objective journalists.

Strange days, man. CNN gave more credit to McCain too.

I think the general impression given by the Fox panel was that McCain did ok, but Obama was so smooth, that none of his punches did much damage. Obama was smooth, but nearly everything he said to rebut McCain was either a flat out lie or a half truth. I guess he feels comfortable doing that since he never is held accountable for anything.

Personally, I thought McCain did good, but not great. He hit him on some very good issues, but also missed some home-run pitches too. Why the hell didn’t McCain bring up Obama’s support for the Freedom of Choice Act?

My wife and I cringed at the first debate, were depressed at the second debate, thought Palin took Biden to the woodshed, and thought McCain wiped the floor with Obama tonight.

I don't know what Hume is thinking-McCain was the clear winner.

I guess I’m wrong because I thought that McCain did a decent job tonight. I think I’ll watch the rest of the baseball game and forget politics for awhile.

My guess is Murdoch’s Saudi investors in Fox/News Corp. want to make sure their Barry gets elected.

Screw Fox News. We will have to get our news from Drudge & Rush.

And Gore won all three debates too...huffing and puffing included.

Actually I think McCain did the best performance of the three debates. There just isn’t enough time in these things to really change the course of things. I have no idea where the race stands. IF Obama really is way ahead then he didn’t do anything to upset that. IF it’s close I think McCain helped his case a lot. Obama looked like a punk laughing at McCain while McCain talked about ACORN and how 11 states are investigating the fraud going on with them. Obama looked like a punk....laughing like “yep Johnny and there’s nothin’ you can do about it because the media loves them some ACORN.”

Rupert Murdoch is in the tank for Obama and his peons are just following orders. They like their jobs.

I am with you, why is there any comparison in how one looks?

One is 74 years respected man, other is a young unknown guy. Tell us whose grandpa looks like grandson?

Fox news is using absurd way to analyze. I am sticking with Freepers from now on.

This is bizarre to read this. I am not watching any of the bozos. I know what I saw, and Obama was floundering, trying to remember his talking points. McCain was right on target.

No no no — they were looking for the knockout punch, the Reagan moment. There was none, so they conclude that Obama’s smoothness, his ability to answer every charge (even with a lie), becomes acceptable. Thus, the “tie” that Obama wins.

Myself, I think McCain did well, could have done much better, but did well enough to win. I confess though that I wish — I really wish — he’d learn about topic sentences.

First of all!!!!!

How the hell could anyone be “undecided” in this election?

The two men are polar opposites of each other! Do these people have difficulty making decisions in everyday life?

Let’s not get crazy here. I disagreed with the panel tonight on McCain, but Fox is easily the best. Don’t accuse them of being Obama sycophants just because they didn’t think McCain won tonight. If you start going down that road, we’re no better than DailyKos.

Don’t believe liberal hype. Fox News is fair and balanced (really). That means they literally try to present the facts objectively.

As for pundit opinion on who won the debate, take that for what it’s worth. That is an editorial segment, and the views expressed are opinion, not fact. There is no way for someone to “win” a political debate. This isn’t like a college debate where points are assigned based on how each participant performed.

You beat me to it.

I was going to say, it’s not supposed to be the conservative channel. That’s the liberal rap on them. Are we repeating liberal slanders now?

It’s the fair and balanced channel. To me, that means that they can say that McCain didn’t win if he didn’t win.

And, he didn’t win. He took ineffective potshots with a .22, which Obama handily deflected, when he needed to unload the ordnance from his fighter jet. That’s what I saw.

I watched the debate on Fox specifically because I thought they’d be fair about it and WOW was I disappointed. They to a person said Obama beat McCain and somehow they watched a DIFFERENT debate than I watched.

According to Fox I don’t need to even go vote. Obama has it locked down.

This is the same problem that has plagued McCain since before the nomination. He is not conservative enough for the pundits. Limbaugh and Hannity hammered him long after it was necessary or productive.

Personally I thought he did well and scored many points. Curiously, Bob Schieffer let McCain end a question line twice maybe three times with strong points.
