On the eve of the Democratic convention, Trib colleague David M. Brown reported that Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of ACORN for services the Democrat's campaign says it “mistakenly misrepresented” in finance reports. An Obama spokesman said then that the FEC reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in "get-out-the-vote" projects. The original FEC finance reports listed the ACORN underling activities as polling, advance work and staging major events.

McCain has a fantastic ad on ACORN, but since they stupidly used FoxNews footage again, it was removed from YouTube. Why is the McCain campaign so stupid?
McCain has some good zingers just waiting for him, both tonight and through the rest of the campaign: Barack, you talk a lot of about the unemployed, the uninsured, the people in poverty. Yet there are estimates you will raise and spend a half a BILLION dollars on this campaign. Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is and spend some of those campaign funds to create jobs, give health care to workers, and give some handouts to poor people?!
I don’t think it would ever happen but I would cheer at the TV if he said something like this. Plus 0bama would be knocked right off his game.
This is OT, but one thing (of many) that has really been bothering me is this: Who are the Obamas’ friends?
The ones we know about are shady and/or thrown under the bus. Who are the people they go out to dinner with, have over to their home for gatherings, and generally socialize with?
Are there any?
The Obama camp is busy trying to make Obama’s associations with Wright, Ayers, etc off-limits but you never see actual FRIENDS speak on behalf of Obama. Not politico buddies, but actual FRIENDS.
Where are the childhood, high school, college, law school friends?

Sorry to keep harping on this, but it just made me wonder who was the best man at Obama’s wedding? Who were the maid of honor and bridesmaids? Who were the guests, besides relatives?
