How McCain Can Deliver a Last Round KO
The New Media Journal ^ | October 15, 2008 | AJ DiCintio

Just the other day, Bill Kristol advised John McCain to “fire his campaign” and unleash himself and Sarah Palin as a “cheerful, open, accessible, attractive” team that uses every stop to get its message across by doing “TV interviews...town halls...Sunday TV shows...talk radio.”

Kristol may be right about the “fire” business, but I appreciate his positive suggestions much more. After all, who wants to be an Obama and offer “solutions” that amount to nothing more than obsessive condemnations of the past.

So, in a positive vein, I offer a few suggestions about how a former fighter pilot can dig down to find his true self and speak to ordinary Americans with passion, truth, and vivid imagery designed not just to wake us up for a few minutes but to get us thinking — really thinking — from the hour and a half we spend watching the last debate to the moment we walk into the booth to cast our vote.

Obama has so many weaknesses that he is a target rich field for an candidate with the will to exploit his blatant communist beliefs, lack of military sense, lack of experience, his associations (including terrorists and ACORN), and his default setting that demands he raise all our taxes. McCain will need to muster the will to actually attack him on these issues.

He is a target right environment, but the ballpark is the issue.

The press is the ballpark and they put fingers in every Obama leak and they make any minor McCain thing come off like end-of-the-world stuff.

The press literally participate in cover-up stuff regarding Obama.
Obama lies or makes things up, then the press just nods their heads in agreement.

Obama is getting billions of free commercials from the mainstream press.

I think what McCain should not go for the jugular in this debate. Hear me out.

I think he needs to lay the groundwork for the two weeks onslaught of ads and exposes on Obama.

He needs to undermine confidence in Obama tonight. Both as a man who is extreme socially (BAIPA), economically (Spread the Wealth), and foreign policy wise (Meetings with Iran, no preconditions, wrong on the surge, the IRANIANS now have preconditions, etc... This is also where Ayers could come in, and a zinger about Obama not being able to get a job in the FBI with his background could help).

Lay the foundation for the narrative to come in the next two weeks and McCain wins handily. Since this election is about Obama, paint the blank slate that is Obama with the REAL picture of Obama.

I watched “The Picture of Dorian Gray” last night. All I could think of was Barry.

If John McCain would actually stop being a “wussy maverick RINO” and instead be a “always conservative” with plenty of tough, substantial messages on all of the issues, then McCain would really be doing much better at this point in time. McCain, being another Bob Dole who really acts like he doesn’t care if he doesn’t win his race for POTUS and always playing this, “We must always be nice, and we must always be respectful to Barack Obama” crap while this entire country is really still seriously headed for third world socialism forever, isn’t helping at all! Wake up, “almost a potted plant” McCain! This entire country is truly in very serious trouble on all of the issues and with no definitive end in sight.

IMO the campaign should fire McCain and go all out with Palin taking the lead. That would pretty much do the trick. Just park Mccain in the garage and teach him about the Free Market.

My expectations are low. Pronouncements of McCain changing his tone and taking it to Obama are not convincing. It would be out of character for McCain.

So, I'm curious to see what will be different, if anything. We were promissed "fire" last time and got "fumes." Maybe there is a large percentage of undecided votes who might be turned off by histrionics. McCain seems to think so. Look for McCain to respectfully try to ruffle Obama's feathers. This will have to be done topically. My guess is McCain will not bring up Ayers, ACORN, Rezko or White.
