BAMA CAMPAIGN ISSUES TALKING POINTS TO MEDIA AHEAD OF DEBATE Wed Oct 15 2008 11:15:03 ET
The Obama campaign issued a set of debate 'talking points' to media on Wednesday morning, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
Press Secretary Sean Smith issued the directive in an email from Pennsylvania, 12 hours before the debate.
The directive oddly mirrors much of the main press analysis and theme of the current campaign:
* This is John McCain's last chance to turn this race around and somehow convince the American people that his erratic response to this economic crisis doesn't disqualify him from being President.
* Just this weekend the weekend, John McCain vowed to "whip Obama's you-know-what" at the debate, and he's indicated that he'll be bringing up Bill Ayers to try to distract voters.
* So we know that Senator McCain will come ready to attack Barack Obama and bring his dishonorable campaign tactics to the debate stage.
Obama continues to lead on the economic crisis with a rescue plan for Main Street.
* Over the course of the campaign, Barack Obama has laid out a set of policies that will grow our middle class and strengthen our economy.
* But he knows we face an immediate economic emergency that requires urgent action - on top of the plans he's already laid out - to help workers and families and communities struggling right now.
* That's why Barack Obama is introducing a comprehensive four-part Rescue Plan for the Middle Class - to immediately to stabilize our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners.
* This is a plan that can and should be implemented immediately.
* Obama has shown steady leadership during this crisis and offered concrete solutions to move the country forward - and his Rescue Plan for the Middle Class builds on the plans to strengthen the economy and rebuild the middle class that he's laid out over the course of this campaign.
* Already in this campaign, he's unveiled plans to give 95 percent of workers and their families a tax cut, eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000, bring down the cost of health care for families and businesses; and create millions of new jobs by investing in the renewable energy sources.
* John McCain has been erratic and unsteady since this crisis began - staggering from position to position and trying to change the subject away from the economy by launching false character attacks.

Camp?! Ooh, visions of childhood summers at camp are swimming in my head. Bugs, snooty girls, strange campground caretakers...
One of the things Id like to see McCain do at this last debate is to show a the picture of Bill Ayers standing on the American Flag. Show this picture to the cameras.
So when Obama mentions Bill Ayers is a good guy who cares about children education, MCCAIN can set the record straight.
He’s running for President for crying out loud, if he can’t deliver the message in a debate, then he won’t win the independents.
Sure, but that's not the issue here.
The issue is which set of talking points the old media chooses to repeat as "news."
I’ve written to Fox News about the “major” since he’s taken to do the talking points for both campaigns. He is smug and arrogant..unwatchable.
OT: Has he had laser resurfacing treatment on his face. I remember him being fairly pockmarked.
I guess his integrity got the blemishes now. :^o
There will be talking-points memorandums issued to the media daily if Obama wins. And the media will faithfully regurgitate them.
The world's second-oldest occupation has morphed into the first.
Thank you. America, Israel, and all that’s good and decent need all the help around.
She is right to pray for God to have mercy on us. As a nation, generally speaking, we have forsaken God. If he spares us from Obama, it will be an act of mercy.
Why the idiotic GOP agrees to this kind of debate is beyond me. The GOP should only agree to debate when they can question the opponent (You know, like in an actual debate.) Two acceptable formats: 1) McCain actually poses the questions to Obama and Obama questions McCain. 2) McCain selects the moderator that questions Obama and Obama selects the questioner for McCain.
Here’s an Obama talking point he’ll be running away from tonight ...

get it before it’s scrubbed
He doesn’t need to see the questions.
Aside from the Saddleback forum it has been rare that either candidate has faced a question that they do not already know how to answer. They already know the mindset of the MSM and can easily give the answers that the media is looking for.
All of the MSM works on the same talking points, they have no originality or talent.
Remember when all of the media crowed at once about Cheney bringing “gravitas” to the Bush ticket?
Remember when the media magically changed the pronounciation of the name of Niger (the African country) all within one day?
The tone is set for the day by the time that the NYTimes hits the street and the Today show has aired its first hour. The message is set and everyone else parrots the same ideas.
When was the last time you turned on your local 5 o’clock news and learned something new? It’s rare to happen.
Anytime any of these points come up in interviews, debates or the Sunday shows, the GOP representative simple has to say that the interviewer is repeating the Obama talking points. He can even pull out a copy and say, "See, that is point 4 that Obama issued to you to ask."
You got it.
The truth is, nothing helps the middle class like a strong rich class. Rich people happily buying things creates a HUGE economy. Rich people starting companies helps people get jobs. When there is a thriving UPPER MIDDLE CLASS, the economy is great; people able to rise to levels above where they started socioeconomically. This only happens when people rise on their own. Government lifting up people only creates situations like pre-Katrina N.O. with people on the teat.
Amen
“Watch it on C-SPAN”
Excellent point!
I’m saying “No” to FOX tonight and will watch the debate on C-Span instead...
You have to pinch yourself a Marxisant radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshipped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. And apparently its considered impolite to say so.
You know, I’ve been thinking this exact thing. All they seem to do is talk about him. They do give him crap, well Fox & Friends do in the morning, but Shep and Brit... well, I’m beginning to wonder about them.
I hope you're right, 'cause I don't think McCain can pull it out on his own (unless he starts fighting like he really wants it).
Around here (L.A.) it appears that the "cool people" who have all the toys and the parties are liberals, so "anyone who is anyone or wants to be anyone" is a liberal too. Mostly to put down and mock "the others." People around here are mostly NOT intelligent leftists who believe in Marxism or could even spell it. They just want to be "cool" and scoff at the dumb religious hicks.
Ah you know today when I saw Rendell on Morning Ho (MSNBC) he was blathering how McCain had to stop ‘hurting’ himself with these attacks on Obama and come up with an economic plan but he didn’t believe that “they were capable” of doing so.
I couldn’t help it and started talking to the TV. Now I wasn’t yelling like I did when Shrillary was lying earlier on FOX but I was calling Rendell a liar.
And I could see he made no absolute sense, being that he was most certainly not out to help McCain. So it was evident that he was lying. And of course no one had anything to say.
If we can swoop in and have Sarah take PA one more time.... man I know the middle and western part of the state (less Pittsburgh) can pull it through now.
You just warmed my heart! Great darn post!!
