The Rage That’s Not On Your Front Page
The liberal media frets over conservative anger, but are blind to a torrent of liberal hate.

By Michelle Malkin

When a few unruly McCain-Palin supporters show their anger at campaign rallies, it’s national news. It’s an epidemic of “Weimar-like rage” and “violent escalation of rhetoric,” according to New York Times columnist Frank Rich. It’s the “re-emergence of the far right as a power in American politics,” according to Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne. It’s a mass movement of GOP crowds “gripped by insane rage,” according to newly minted Nobel Prize–winner Paul Krugman.

Too bad they don’t give out global awards for the Blindest Eyes in Punditocracy. We’ve just hit a trifecta.

Are a few activists on the right getting out of hand? Probably. Between massive ACORN voter fraud, Bill Ayers’ and Jeremiah Wright’s unrepentant hatred of America, and John McCain’s inability to nail Barack Obama on his longtime alliances with all of the above, conservatives have plenty to shout about these days.

But a couple of random catcallers do not a mob make. And there’s an overflowing abundance of electoral rage on the left that won’t make it onto your newspaper’s front page.

Last month on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, a small, brave contingent of McCain supporters marched through the streets with campaign signs. They were met by a menacing horde of New Yorkers who displayed their disapproval with a barrage of jeers and vulgar gestures. (“The number of middle fingers in the ‘progressive crowd’ is directly proportional to the number of Ph.D. degrees in the 10-block radius,” one of the witnesses wryly observed.) A YouTube video of the confrontation now has half a million views. But don’t expect to find it on the nightly news. It doesn’t fit the Angry Right narrative.

Neither does the near-riotous reaction of Obama supporters to a McCain-Palin sign in Democrat-dominated Prince George’s County, Md. Buried in a back local section, the Washington Post reported this week that “pandemonium” broke loose when an unsuspecting businessman erected a “Country First. McCain/Palin.” message on the marquee at his Colony South Hotel & Conference Center.

“Operators of neighborhood e-mail group lists cried foul to their memberships. The NAACP logged calls. Community leaders demanded boycotts of the hotel, a common venue for Democratic events,” the little-noticed article reported. A black professor called the sign “a stink bomb in the middle of the living room” of Obama land. The poor hotel manager, Alan Vahabzadeh, surrendered. “I didn’t even realize it was going to be like this.”

Can’t blame him for missing the fiery hint from Portland, Ore. — where two deranged vandals were arrested after throwing a Molotov cocktail at a McCain yard sign in the middle of the night. Nope, that didn’t make it into the columns of Rich, Dionne or Krugman. Doesn’t fit the Angry Right narrative.

Speaking of “violent escalation of rhetoric” you never hear about:

Obama supporters in Philadelphia sported “Sarah Palin is a [disgusting vulgarism referring to female genitalia]” T-shirts and yelled, “Let’s stone her, old school” over the weekend.

An Internet artist has designated Palin an “M.I.L.P.” — “Mother I’d Like to Punch“ — and published a drawing of a man’s fist knocking a tooth out of the Alaska governor’s mouth and the glasses off her face.

“ABORT Palin” graffiti has sprouted on the sidewalks of Seattle, and “Abort Sarah Palin“ bumper stickers are spreading in Web stores.

Palin-bashing Madonna performs before an audience of thousands, screeching and threatening to “kick her a**.”

Getty Images publishes a photo of a man pointing a fake gun at the head of a cardboard cutout of Palin on display at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition building.

And no one blinks. Not a peep from the Obamedia.

But when Palin simply spotlights Obama’s longtime relationship with Weather Underground terrorist Bill “We Didn’t Do Enough” Ayers?

“Inciting violence,” frets NBC reporter Ron Allen. “Concerned . . . for Sen. Obama’s safety,” agonizes ABC reporter Terry Moran. “Beyond the pale,” cries Obama campaign manager David Plouffe. As if the no-holds-barred Obama campaign has ever had a rhetorical pale to stake.

All the world’s a Kabuki stage for the selectively outraged over rage.

OK, so these folks get the power of the federal government behind them...

then what will they do?

This:

And here is the lady’s blog:

And this is without the full power of the federal government, just the power of a presidential candidate with a tinkled off campaign worker.

Obama spoke at the Daily Kos convention. Anyone reading Kos knows that it’s filled on a daily basis with rhetoric about McCain, Palin, Bush, and Cheney that makes any generic shout of “traitor” against Obama appear downright gentle. Did the media accuse Obama of inciting hate by speaking to a group whose followers routinely describe the above-mentioned Republicans as terrorists, murderers, whores, and pigs, amidst a flurry of obscenities? Nope!

There's no contest as to which party has more rage and hatred in their persons on a daily basis. A serious sociological study would address this once and for all if it were to get mass attention. My hypothesis is that more Dems than any other affiliation were children of difficult family situations growing up that produces an unusual amount of anger and drive to mow down the opposition at all costs, whether in sports or at the ballot box. Republicans and conservatives win on ability alone. Many of those at McCain's rallies were plants, plain and simple. While his rallies are open to all, Obama’s are seriously orchestrated to allow Dems only to give a perfect, calculated impression of total agreement. No need to buy the Kool Aid.

.

The left is agitating and fomenting riots, not the right. Good men will take only so much abuse before ending the abuse. Evil always brings loss, but less when stopped sooner.

Inflicted upon them via that same party from the development of Godlessness, no-fault divorce, radical feminism, meaningless 'self-esteem', etc.

I know of many (me included) who won’t put McCain/Palin signs in the front yard or even on a bumper sticker for fear of vandalism... or worse. I only fear one side of the political spectrum.

I engage in ready conversation with anyone who will listen and work to change minds one at a time. I don’t need to self-identify as a target for the addle-brained.

I will do my demonstrating on 11/4.

I only fear one side of the political spectrum.

That sums it up as well as possible.

An Ad or mini-documentary really needs to be produced

I'm sorry so many wealthy Republicans don't see the need to invest money in getting teh truth out. They rather just keep paying off the Left. It's like a protection racket.

So, were those JBT's really from the Secret Service? The blog does not show whether Mrs. Hughes called them to verify it.

Of course, without badge numbers and names, all the Service would have to do is say, "No, they weren't ours", and she would be left pounding sand.

One day, they're going to try this with somebody who is prepared to record the encounter.

She is now a Freeper, and from other posts here it looks like it’s been verified that these were real Secret Service agents. It also sounds as if there is no way to prosecute the person who reported this as a death threat. They have to investigate any threat and had no way of knowing if it was a lie.

From now on I will be pushing the record button on my answering machine when campaign workers call. It would be nice to have a video recorder for any unexpected visitors at the front door too, but that would require some real cash outlay! Maybe a security camera with video backup?

The local GOP office had a big Black woman come into the office (while ACORN was working the county), saying that she had been a Democrat all her life but wanted to change her registration to Republican because a Black man should never be president. I didn’t hear her, but I was told that she went on and on about how bad Black men were. It was obvious that she was baiting the workers, trying to get some kind of quote to take back with her. She probably didn’t even live in the county.

One of my friends was burnt in the 2000 SC primary debacle by CNN. (This was in connection with the infamous McCain-Bush imbroglio.) They called him at his house to ask if he would do an interview. He agreed to see them, and, to his amazement, they showed up minutes later. (They were already in the neighborhood when they called.) The shoot lasted over an hour, but they used only a few minutes of it -- all carefully clipped to distort what he had said into a form which fit their narrative.

I realized then that the best move for him would have been to invite a friend over with a camcorder and shoot an independent recording of the session. If the crew balked, they could just be invited to take a hike. That would have spiked the hatchet job from the start. Hindsight, and all that. <sigh>

Security cameras and solid-state recorders are getting cheaper all the time. They may become essential accessories on every house and car, at least for those who consider the truth a mighty shield.
