I just want to add one thing to my comments above. Almost every presidential election cycle, the GOP ticket appears to "surge" in the last week or so of the campaign. However, there really isn't a surge at all. It's merely the MSM polls adjusting their methodologies to reflect the true state of the election. If they didn't do that, they'd have no credibility at all.

Internals drive the race because they have to be accurate.

Anyone that believes the public polls right now I have swampland for sale in AZ.

The AG’s lawsuit will not be addressed until after the election-guaranteed. There will be open and obvious fraud on a massive scale in Milwaukee and surroundings both in absentee voting and in groups being bussed from polling place to polling place. Banana Republics everywhere will be green with envy.

This isn’t 51 separate elections. Gains in WI can mean gains in IA.

I have read some of the posts about "internal polls". I sure hope this is correct. If not it is one of the biggest blunders of the campaign.

They have NOT campaigned around the whole country. First of all, this just ain't right. This is not American politics to campaign only in battleground states. Yes, its smart to put a lot of money and effort in the toughest states, but you gotta make campaign stops everywhere. They have spent weeks bouncing around between Philly and Wisconsin.

Well, there is still some time left. I have sent emails to the McCain/Palin campaign and to the RNC asking them to PLEASE make a quick swing through the South. Whatever vote they are going to get in Wisconsin, they pretty much have locked up. Move about the country McCain!

I'm just exasperated beyond words.

They can sell $1,000 plate dinners in Alabama, or anywhere. We have rich people here! Come get it! It would only take a few days to run around and ignite the fire and get the South motivated. I warned in emails and posted here.. this is a mistake not campaigning in the South. I think we need to start calling McCain/Palin campaign and RNC and tell these people emphatically that the campaign needs to get their butts down here.

the GOP convention was held in MN and gave McCain a significant boost in the Twin City suburbs. The demographics of Minnesota also work in McCains favor - older, very few minority voters. Lots of rural voters love hunting, religion, and Sarah Palin too. The calm in Iraq has really helped too, because this is a tremendous antiwar state.

I am a bit south of there, but this morning I was on the phone with someone from our Rural Electic Co-op and I was amused to realized that she sounded exactly like Sarah, including “goshdarnit”.

He is there because his internal polling that his campaign is conducting tells him that his time is well spent there. I am happy that he is now there rather than places like Florida or Virginia that normally a republican should not have to worry about.

One more thing... It went for Mondale 24 years ago, and it was his home state! It voted in Coleman over Mondale in 2002. It has a GOP governor. MN has been trending more and more Republican over the past several years, just like PA and WI.

And the only reason that Mondale won MN was because the Reagan camp knew it was going to be a blowout, showed some compassion, and called off all campaign activities in that state with 12 days to go.

He is spending time there because McCain has to win either MN, WI or PA to win the election - a tall order. One of McCain's strategist mentioned this to the Politico about a week ago.

They know McCain has lost Iowa and probably NM. So they are guarding against a possible loss in NV, CO and/or VA. McCain is behind in all three, but he has no choice but to campaign in those states.

RCP is horsecrap

RCP is only as accurate as the horse crap it uses to calculate the averages of the polls it uses. I would like to see the site's bloggers do some analysis of the polls like they used to. In previous elections they questioned their own results by examining the veracity of the various polls. Alas, the site has changed a lot (more mainstream and commercial now).

I agree that Sarah has big appeal in the Upper Midwest. She has ancestors from Wisconsin (one of the birthplaces of the Republican Party).

Midwesterners are a lot less likely to buy Obama's phony "I'm just like you" line of bull, and many of the Democrats in Wisconsin will be too busy partying and/or thinking about football to remember to vote.

I-Eagle...that is BUSH’S job...he was in Florida tonite raising money for the DNC...that is where he will go...

The candidates needs to go to places that will have rallies with large attendance. When you get a ticket, there is a stub and they get your name addy, and phone #. THose people are then good prospects to work in that area for the candidate.

That is the main reason for the rally. These people can make phone calls, volunteer to be poll-watchers, etc.

You WANT them in the states that are close. Each time they go to a state, they don’t go to the same part of that state. It’s a pretty good plan.

Now...look at the size of the crowds for McCain-Palin...look at the ones for Obama...look at both people at a Biden rally...

There is you true poll....

I think a lot of the double voters may not take the chance with the voter fraud investigations going on. Wisconsin is winnable if the fraud is cut down.

These people should be smart enough not to waste time in places where they know they can't win.

On the other hand, McCain just praised Obama as a fine and honorable fellow that nobody needs to fear.

If they're dumb enough to do that, it's hard to have much faith in their state management tactics...
