NY Times Editorial Page: These People Are Palin-Obsessed
The New York Times ^ | 10/3/2008 | Several

UNSIGNED EDITORIAL: Dick Cheney, Role Model: In all the talk about the vice-presidential debate, there was an issue that did not get much attention but kept nagging at us: Sarah Palin’s description of the role and the responsibilities of the office for which she is running, vice president of the United States.

Bob Herbert: Palin’s Alternate Universe: Sarah Palin is the perfect exclamation point to the Bush years. We’ve lived through nearly two terms of an administration that believed it could create its own reality:

GAIL COLLINS: Talking in Points: The Republicans were euphoric over Sarah Palin’s debate performance, particularly the part in which she stood tall and refrained from falling off the stage... And, indeed, her answers were murky in the extreme.

CHARLES M. BLOW: The Joe Biden Show: Palin launched into her charm offensive — winking, smiling, dodging questions and speaking in her signature Sarah-phonics , a mash up of sentence fragments and colloquialisms glued together with misplaced also’s and there’s — gibberish really. Everyone in the bar lapped it up. It was The Sarah Palin Show... As it became clear that she wasn’t going to implode, I started to see the debate instead as The Joe Biden Show. And, it was good.

STEVEN PINKER: Everything You Heard Is Wrong: Being able to see Russia from Alaska, then, means you have an understanding of foreign policy; living in an Arctic state means that you have an understanding of climate change. In Mr. McCain’s case, it means, as he wrote last month, understanding technology policy because he flew airplanes in Vietnam and being concerned about the oceans’ health because he served in the Navy.

They should pay royalties to her -- she is almost their entire editorial page, making up today's two minutes of hate!

I had to share this. I actually couldn't believe how obsessed with her they are. Is it possible that they actually love her in some obsessive pathological sick way and are trying hard to deny it?

No, but they are projecting their self loathing obsessive pathological sick love of "The One"

BTW, I loved it when she keep correcting Biden by saying "I need to correct you Senator"

Imagine that blowhard was thinking I had to stand there and take that crap off a mere governor

An “unsigned” editorial is an editorial written by the editors of the publication that publishes it. It may have been assigned to one editor or it may have been a “collective” effort.

Here is my favorite one:

“STEVEN PINKER: Everything You Heard Is Wrong: Being able to see Russia from Alaska, then, means you have an understanding of foreign policy; living in an Arctic state means that you have an understanding of climate change. In Mr. McCain’s case, it means, as he wrote last month, understanding technology policy because he flew airplanes in Vietnam and being concerned about the oceans’ health because he served in the Navy.”

First of all - you CAN see Russia from Alaska if you are standing in the right spot - on an island by the border.
In fact, during particularly cold seasons, you can walk from one island to the other island - from Alaska to Russia.
Even the libs at GMA proved this to be true when they flew out there (they’ll go all the way to this remote location, but refuse to go to Chicago).

As governor of an arctic state - she just might have spent more time examining the science behind the various theories.
It is always good to read opposing views - sometimes the critics and skeptics turn out to be right (I remember as a child being told we were headed for an ice age).

This idiot shows the typical liberal tendency to assume the worst about people he does not understand - to attribute motivations to them they do not have - but he would LIKE them to have- just so he can demonize them.

They are acting like they are in high school.

Remember that girl who was perfectly nice, gentle, kind and she was beautiful, a straight A student probably on a sports team.

She was always there, always successful never hurt a fly and would help you when ever she could and we all hated her for zero reasons.

I feel like I am reliving those stupid high school antics.

You nailed. Every time I see Katie Couric I think of Nellie Olson.

That’s what the media has become.... a bunch of Nellie Olsons.

Yes, they are clearly obsessed with Governor Palin. That's as much as they would have given to a declaration of war by the Congress.

I think it's because they see that Governor Palin is a new Ronald Reagan, a normal American who speaks directly to American sensibilities.

They can see she has a very bright political future, and the inevitability of eight years of a Palin presidency are causing collective apoplexy among the New York Times editors.

I missed the debates, but i’ve seen snippets and imo she did a good job.I think what really bothers the msm is that she relates and speaks to the middle class.Clearly a problem for the msm.

They are acting like they are in high school.

That describes leftists in general. They live their whole lives that way.

Sarah is exceptional.

She is challenged as much or more than the average middle class American family woman, and she successfully copes while being a patriot, brilliantly successful executive, negotiator, CFO, and public problem solver. All the while remaining charming, witty, engaging, honest, warm and non eleiteist faithful and conservative.

Add in gorgeous and they all hate her because they're NOT her. It's the most enormous case of ENVY that I have ever seen.

Every one of these communist wannabe's are so jealous of Sarah's gifts and accomplishments, that they're dying to use them to further the misery of socialist lies on the world if they had them for themselves.

Just replace conservatism with Marxism and faith with secular humanism and they all want to BE Sarah Palin.

You know damn well that what all of these freaks would really like to do is have sex with her. They, in their darkest souls actually think that is all women are good for. Look how they treat their own, ie. Hillary. She’s just useful up to a point. They don’t want any woman near the whitehouse. Hypocrites.

They are obsessed with her because she is rallying those who have not been demoralized. The revolution can only succeed if enough people have been demoralized to the point that they believe government is the only thing that can save them. To them she reeks of personal responsibility and self reliance.

I bet she knows the name of the Restaurant she really eats at LOL

I bet she knows that the General in Afghanistan understands how to win.

I wonder if her Iraq plan included dividing up the country into 3 separate countries? I wonder is if after 36 YEARS in the Senate she would know anything about Hezbollah?
