Florida Gop Meets In Secret As Obama Passes McCain In Polls
Saint Petersburg Times ^ | 10/2/08 | Alex Leary, Jennifer Liberto, & Steve Bousquet

Florida Republican leaders hastily convened a top secret meeting this week to grapple with Sen. John McCain's sagging performance in this must-win state.

Their fears were confirmed Wednesday when four new polls showed Sen. Barack Obama leading, a reversal from just a few weeks ago when McCain was opening up an advantage....

One of the concerns has been the relationship between grass roots volunteers across the state and far fewer paid campaign staffers. Complaints range from not getting yard signs quickly enough to knowing who will speak at events and overall manpower coordination....

McCain supporter and former Republican Party of Florida chairman Tom Slade said he's been hearing rumblings over the past few weeks that the campaign is not fully utilizing volunteers, though he said that was not the case in Jacksonville.

"I get the sense that on the statewide basis, the grass roots Republicans don't quite feel like they have a natural fit within the McCain organization," Slade said....

Last -few- interviews? I think it has just been a single interview with Couric that has been spliced up into multiple pieces. I don’t think anyone but hardcore libs were bothered by the Bush Doctrine answer.

I also differ it will be “all over” for the campaign if the debate goes badly. Remember Quayle ‘88? Who won then?

I ordered a bumper sticker and yard sign and it took over two weeks to be delivered. I thought they took my money and were not going to send anything.

I ordered stickers and signs on September 9th and still nothing. And they already charged my CC for them back when I placed my order.

Sometimes I wonder if the McCain campaign didn't put the clamps on Palin because she was outshining and stealing the limelight from her boss.

Fatal error, if true......and I believe it's at least partially true.

We have the same problem here in Ohio. My wife is volunteering here at the McCain office to get the word out.
Positive note. No one has changed their mind about voting McCain/Palin. There are so many Obaminates (Communist, Acorn, and so called progressive) hovering around the city.
I work from home and I kept on getting so many knocks on the door asking about my voting preference. After getting a McCain/Palin sign we no longer get a knock. I hope my windows don't get broken. This is absolutely scary ... be very afraid.

So the old man is voting for Obama because ideologues in his party have driven him away? I wonder if he really is a Republican. He has no problem then voting for a far left ideologue in the other party? It is this kind of thinking that will drag America down.

Well that makes our job clear, we educate them. The ‘red rag’ is a credible source for what, just like Pravda was right? Or is it even worse?

Nothing obvious on OpenSecrets, but so what? Ringers are easy to find. The drive by media was advertising for a “fake rape victim” to smear Sarah.

Yeah I ordered two McCain lawn signs, two bumper sticker, two hats, and two motorcycle stickers a couple weeks ago before McCain screwed the pooch with this bailout fiasco.

I still haven’t gotten them, and now I don’t even want them.

This suggests a problem more fundamental than ineptitude at distributing lawn signs and assigning manpower....

LOL. You've said some stupid things before, but that one takes the cake. Sarah Palin is causing McCain's so-called sag in the polls in Florida based on the word of one old coot who thinks she's an "ideologue"?

There is precisely one ideologue in this race and his name is Barack Obama. You remember him, right? He's the guy you want to win.

I think we are on to something Tarpon. They have been taught communism under a different name or names like—diversity, racism-sexism. All things PC are communist. but accepted as the norm. Anything you say against communism can be shouted down. In fact The majority is now...communist. Hope not. I think they have us. The first way to counterattack is to realize it. McClame thinks the best way is to reach out to them. That will never work with a communist.

Here speaketh the great detective COLUMBO:

Excuse me Mr. Obama, I mean Senator Obama, sir. Um . . . know you are busy and important and stuff. I mean running for president is very important and . . . ah . . . I hate to bother you. I will only take a minute ok, sir?
See, I have these missing pieces that are holding me up, and I was wondering sir, if you could take time out of your busy schedule and help me out. You know, no big deal, just some loose ends and things.
Hey, you have a nice place here! The wife sees houses like this on TV all the time and says boy she wishes she had digs like this you know? Is that painting real? Really? Wow. I saw something like that in a museum once!
Oh, sorry sir. I didn’t mean to get off the track. So if you could just help me out a minute and give me some details, I will get right out of your way. I want to close this case and maybe take the wife to Coney Island or something. Ever been to Coney Island ? No, I didn’t think so. .
Well, listen, anyways, I can’t seem to get some information I need to wrap this up. These things seem to either be “locked” or “not available’. I’m sure it’s just some oversight or glitch or something, so if you could you tell me where these things are . . . I . . . I . . . have them written down here somewhere . . . oh wait. Sorry about the smears. It was raining out. I’ll just read it to you.
Could you help me please find these things, sir?
1. Occidental College records — Not released
2. Columbia College records — Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper — “not available”
4. Harvard College records — Not released
5. Selective Service Registration — Not released
6. Medical records — Not released
7. Illinois State Senate schedule — “not available”
8. Law practice client list — Not released
9. Certified Copy of original Birth certificate — Not released
10. Embossed, signed paper Certification of Live Birth — Not released
11. Harvard Law Review articles published — None
12. University of Chicago scholarly articles — None
13. Your Record of baptism— Not released or “not available”
14. Your Illinois State Senate records—”not available”
Oh hey . . listen! I know you are busy! Is this too much for you now? I mean tell you what. I will come back tomorrow. Give you some time to get these things together, you know? I mean, I know you are busy, so I will just let myself out. I will be back tomorrow. And the day after. Who wants to know these things asks Senator Obama? Columbo answered:THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

Uh, this is from the St. Petersburg Times...they have an agenda. Here’s how bad the St. Petersburg Times is...for the last 3 weeks I’ve been getting a “free” Sunday edition dumped in my driveway. All my neighbors too, so they’re giving away free papers on Sunday in hopes that their biased pro-Obama articles will influence the election.

The st. pete times is along with the west Palm Post the two biggest liberal rags in the state. When Jeb Bush was running for relection these two were the only major papers that didn’t endorse him.Total fish wrap.

All true, but why tell me? Try and get bi-partisan bailout McCain and his inept campaign staff to use it. Good luck.

“Always remember what ‘compassionate conservatism’ has brought us.”

Personally I prefer a drunken, ho’ing, SOB, at least I know where they stand. A compassionate conservative is a Rodney King conservative AKA RINO. Truly compassionate, caring people don’t weare it on their sleeve, they live it and keep their mouth shut about the good they do.

I think we are seeing the difference the tons of dirty money flowing into the Obama campaign can make.

Obama has the state flooded with paid staff and the roadsides and yards are awash in Obama campaign signs.

There are almost no McCain signs anywhere and people can’t get them.
Since the convention McCain campaign offices have been saying that yard signs and posters are due in a day or two but they never seem to arrive.

The only McCain-Palin sign I have personally seen is one quite small one in front of the local campaign office.

Just ONE sign!

Consequently the office itself is hardly noticeable.
