Could this be why Pelosi did her outrageous little speech before doing a vote? Could it be that Nancy wanted the Bill to be defeated so that she could hurt McCain? Yeah, it makes sense to me. This was all a bunch of political grandstanding by Pelosi to get the Bill defeated. No wonder she couldn't deliver the votes, she didn't want to deliver, that why she said what she did. What a complete fraud she is.

Congratulations Right-Wing Nuts, on torpedoing the McCain campaign, and getting Obama elected, and probably a huge Dem majority in both houses. Well done, morons.

But you see, McCain really wanted the bill to fail while it just looked like he was supporting it...he is brilliant and a masterful politician

(this is what the MSM are saying about Pelosi today)

I don’t buy the claim that McCain was trying to take credit for the bill. However, I am thoroughly convinced that Pelosi sabotaged its passage. I expect the approval rating of Congress to fall even further.

The problem with this analysis is that you have to explain why Pelosi did something that most on FR and most of our Talk Radio Friends wanted her to do. Do you really think she is operating in our best interests? I don't think so.

When we find ourselves effectively on the same side as Pelosi then we had better question our assumptions. One or more of them has to be wrong.

I am wondering when Politico is going to report that Obama took credit for it on “Face the Nation”?

Yesterday a bunch of Freepers expressed their desire that John McCain meet Obama’s failures head on, that John McCain meet the lies and inuendoes head on.

Well, it looks to me John McCain is.

And I am impressed with Senator McCain’s humbleness, graciousness, and quiet strength.

The writer just made McCain look so dumb. If I did not know who this John McCain was, I would think he was an idiot. Who on Earth jumps up and down over a failed bill that he worked so hard to get passed? This has to be a writers interpretation. Certainly John McCain would not put his thumbs up over this? Would he?????? I am glad that I have already made up my mind to vote for Senator McCain before this mess these past few weeks.

On this website, yesterday after the bill went down I read a story about Obama coming out and taking credit for it’s formulation and passage. It exactly mirrors this story, which is strictly partisan.

Every move McCain has made on this issue has been clumsy, poorly timed and at odds with his claims that he will shake up the old Washington politics.

He wants everyone to believe that he is a maverick and will shake Washington up, but on the bailout he just went along with the old crowd.

Now, he has lost the public relations battle on the economy and the bailout.

His salvation was to side with the people who put “COUNTRY FIRST” as he says in his campaign slogan. But he decided to stick with his cronies on capitol hill.

He came down on the wrong side and will probably lose the election because it shows he will just give us the same old politics.

I wish he would think about his own campaign rhetoric.

Well, I think McCain may have stepped in that $700b bag of dung that was put on the doorstep.

Right. How could McCain know that Pelosi would screw up so badly? Good point.

McCain is trying to show America that he is above the politics as usual crowd. He will be a major part of whatever rescue bill succeeds.

How did the author miss it when Obama took credit for the bill before it failed?

How can it hurt McCain if he is blamed for the failure of the bill? The American public was 100 to 1 against the bill which of course means the public WANTED it to FAIL! I hope Nancy keeps blaming McCAin for the FAILURE of the bill and that McCAin says it NEEDED TO FAIL BECAUSE IT WAS A TERRIBLE BILL! Then McCain needs to say that the Republicans will proposed a good bill that cuts the Capital Gains Tax to ZERO for one year!

FUNNY!

Yesterday the MSM had plastered all over the place that:

OBAMA CLAIMS CREDIT FOR BILL ( I WAS IN CONSTANT TOUCH WITH PAULSEN .............. AND THEY ACCEPTED ALL OF OUR STAFF TALKING POINTS IN THE BILL).

BILL IS VOTED DOWN.....POPULIST UPRISING. TODAY: ( Complete Propaganda Change)

MCCAIN CLAIMS CREDIT FOR BILL..... PLASTERED ALL OVER THE PLACE

The MSM is a riot. What a bunch of F'n Clowns. Mike Allen needs tarred and feathering, yet again.

America is now really seeing this kind of crap, and is paying attention. The MSM is actually NOW ruining any chance Obama had at the presidency. I LOVE IT!

This is why Senators are never elected President. Obama gets it, McCain does not. There is a reason he lost in 2000, and a reason Gore lost that same year. They are both losers.

What's missing here is the correct time frame.

Nothing in this article says McCain took credit for yesterday's vote, only bringing his considerable gravitas to the issue, which isn't resolved by a long shot.

The Dems had 4 good days by lying and distorting reality.

McCain will have 4 good weeks by seizing this issue.

I don’t think McCain or many people anywhere understand what the bill would really have done. To some it may have seemed like a good thing.

Nevertheless, the world did not come to an end overnight and the trillion that was lost when the stocks dropped 7% yesterday was surely not missed by me. The DOW this morning before the bell was up by 150 points. Nobody tore their hair out when the market went up a trillion a while back.

Best thing for McCain would be to stay on the sidelines and wait to see how things shake out. When even 40% of the Democratic Congressmen along with most of the Republicans also voted against it, the bill isn’t a good thing.
