Final vote counts here: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll674.xml
Background:
Saturday, September 27, 2008 Speaker Pelosi Blasts "Unpatriotic" Republicans For Skipping Meeting... A Meeting Dems Did Not Invite Them To!!
Despicable Nancy Pelosi calls GOP Unpatriotic for missing a meeting-- A meeting they were not invited to.
Here's some behind the scenes politicking by Democrats at the Congressional bailout talks today, via the House GOP:
I Just wanted to shoot this story regarding the ongoing negotiations your way before you hear the media spin the Dems are feeding them. Republicans were told todays negotiations were for principles. Meaning each partys lead negotiators Senators Chris Dodd and Judd Gregg and Reps. Blunt and Frank. When we showed up to the meeting the list of Dems walking in the door kept growing to include all the above along with Democrats:
Rahm Emanuel (arguable the most political member of the House) Charles Rangel (currently under an ethics investigation) Senator Max Baucus Senator Chuck Schumer (again, one of the most polarizing Members of Congress) Senator Kent Conrad Senator Jack Reed
Thats hardly the deal we were promised, like Mr. Blunt quipped to reporters, I think the ratio's about fair. It's two to eight or something."
And, the Dem spin machine is still in full swing. They said we boycotted earlier meetings, well, as Chris Dodd said last night on NBC, they just forgot to call us. So, maybe an 8-2 fight is the best weve had all week because we are at least at the table.
Later today... Speaker Pelosi had the gall to go before cameras and call the Republican members of the House "unpatriotic" for not attending that earlier meeting.
(The meeting Dodd admitted they weren't invited to.)
And, here is more from Pelosi claiming she was never warned about the financial crisis. She's lying, of course.

No wonder I couldn’t get a hold of Norm Dicks. What a jerk for supporting this.
Nancy Pelosi is a disgrace. She let Barney Frank answer the question about her partisan attack speech! I mean she’s the Speaker of the House and she can’t speak for herself! Amazing!
Republicans really need to get the word out about what is going on.
The house Republicans did an incredible job getting the pork and nonsense out of this thing -- all while Pelosi stabbed them in the back in front of the cameras.
If Pelosi has any power, she'll round up another vote tomorrow and pass this thing. The fact that so many Democrats bailed on this just shows how angry the voters are.
I’m glad to see (but not surprised) that my Congresswoman, Sue Myrick, voted no!
Did anyone else just see Nancy and Barney’s press conference? Granted it might be because of her bug eyes, but she looked rattled and scared. Frank’s anger made his lisp sound even more ridiculous. Call me crazy, but I’m starting to think if those two keep acting like this and McCain starts calling a spade a spade, he just might still pull it off.
No.
I didn’t think so. Politics with the votes. No way do I believe that Tancredo was for this.
Why would you be surprised?
It was those who hate the rich who voted against this bill. Kucinich and his fellow communists hate the rich and always vote this way.
They love it that the conservative populists joined them for what is usually a communist-dominated vote.
“Nancy Pelosi is a disgrace. She let Barney Frank answer the question about her partisan attack speech! I mean shes the Speaker of the House and she cant speak for herself! Amazing!”
It shows what a lack of leadership she really has ... 0
She’s another empty suit using her vileness to play partisan politics.
My Dem Congressman voted Nay as well.
That link (and the votes listed in the following post) refer to this:
H R 3997 RECORDED VOTE 29-Sep-2008 2:07 PM
QUESTION: On Concurring in Senate Amendment With An Amendment
BILL TITLE: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes
????????????
I am trying to see what the relationship is between this vote and the issue being posted about... What am I missing? Or is it a thin reference to “patriotism”??
the Republicans should be countering and placing blame
where it belongs at Frank And Dodd!
Tancredo was on the news Sunday saying that a lot of this mess was from financing homes to illegals. guess he thought it needed fixing. I dont agree. we need to send these people to jail and need a broad investigation that inclued frank , pelosi, paulson and reid. If what Obama’s friends did was not illegal it should have been so we need to fix it.
They can’t vote again tomorrow because the Bill is Dead.
A new one has to be written
Both of these RATS are Nazi Pelosi lapdogs. Obviously, Nazi Pelosi had no intention of allowing this bill, without the RAT pork, pass.
Nazi Pelosi wanted this bill to fail so that the RATS could hammer the Republicans, trying to pin the blame on them, and then pass their pork-laidened original bill, with the give-aways to ACORN, etc.
Watch what they try to pass tonight!
My republican rep voted YEA. I just got off the phone telling them in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that that was the wrong vote, and that I’d be watching her like a hawk. Their excuse was: “she didn’t want to, but felt something HAD to be done.”
I’m so darn mad I could spit...
I'd have been shocked if he hadn't.
I'm proud to be from Culberson's district.
