Need list of R's voting Yea

Posted on 09/29/2008 11:38:11 AM PDT by daddydoo

We need a list of the Republicans voting YEA on this bill. I hope John McCain tries to get on board all those Dems that voted NAY. He could use their support back home.

I don’t know which ones voted for it, but I’m liking the ones that voted against it.

I have a few people that I hope run for president in 2012.

I’m liking Eric Cantor!!! He was calling Pelosi out, and standing strong.

I would also like to know when Obama voted. Did he wait until he saw which way it was going to go, for sure, and then voted with the majority?

This is what you get when you try to view the roll call vote on Thomas. The system has crashed.

When did the Senate vote??

They didn't.

Several FReepers today seem very confused about the difference between the House and Senate. Kind of scary.

Obama is a Senator...this was a House vote.

He wasn't even "Present"!

BILL TITLE: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes

I don't get it. Is this the right vote? Did someone try to pull a fast one on the title or is the title wrong for the vote?

Are you sure this was the bill? The bill title at the page was,

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes.

Because if it is the bill, I can think of one Republican that just lost a lot of respect I had for him.

You’re not alone in the ever growing number of citizens and even FReepers who don’t know the difference between the house and senate.

John Boehner is a CRAP sandwich if you ask me! He goes and grandstands on Friday, ACTS like a conservative, makes sure it makes the news, then turns RIGHT around and votes FOR this bailout.

VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE!!!

Been trying to get on the Congressional web site for the last 90 minutes.

No luck.

I'm sure all of us are anxious to know...

Who were the Dems who voted nay?
Careful with that one; many voted because it did NOT give enough away.

Who were the RINOs who voted yea?
Those better start updating their resumes...

Senate would vote Wednesday if the house passed it today.

Having 50 to 60 Republicans vote in favor of this is a good thing. With 90+ Dems voting against the bill, it jumbles up the numbers and makes it hard to claim that the GOP killed the bill (sure, that case will be made, of course). There was rank and file bipartisan support for the bill, but the rank and file bipartisan opposition to it was stronger.

So the blame ends up falling squarely on the House Leadership, specifically Pelosi and the Dems. They control the House, they can better enforce Party discipline (Pelosi has had articles written about how effective she's been in that regard) and they should be able to swing a majority vote.

Hopefully the Republicans will be able to effectively make that case.
