I hope I am posting this correctly, I've never done one of these before, but it's really important. Please PLEASE contact your representative and senator NOW about the bill that they are working on. I know that if they have to pass this sort of legislation, I do NOT want any of that money to go to anything like ACORN etc. I know we all feel that we don't have much of a voice, but if we ALL contact our own reps, we may find that they will listen. If we don't do it, they certainly won't hear us.
It's easy, you can find your Representative and Senator's fax and phone numbers here:
http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/
Click on your state and it will give you a page with the Senators for your state, and a list of Representatives (you will have to pick yours out--if you don't know the name of your rep, you can go here:
https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml
You will need to know your 9 number zip (but they will give you a link to get that at the website).
There may be another website that has all of the info easier, but I was in a hurry.
Please, write and tell them how you feel about this! My fax was very short and simple, I said:
As a constituent, I URGE you NOT to sign any bill that gives ANY proceeds to anyone other than toward the federal deficit. There should be no pork in the bill dealing with the current economic crisis. I know many others feel the way I do. Americans want our Congress members to deal with the current issue and NOT use it as a way to slip anything else in. This would include provisions which give some of the money to groups like ACORN.
I know this is not a great letter, you can probably do much better, but please do it now!

Here’s what an AP report says on Yahoo:
Homeowners faced with foreclosure or those who have lost their homes get little help from the agreement. Nor will it help people whose houses are worth less than what they owe get refinancing or take out equity loans.
You did it correctly, lol. A lot of FReepers today have been in contact w/ Boehner, McCotter, Garrett, Issa’s and many other offices today. The 4 listed above had folks in answering the phones and I must say they are really really nice people!
Lots of vm’s left today!
ACORN is not in the bill.
Unknown if La Raza is still there because everyone here seems to have forgotten about them.
From what I understand, but I don’t know for certain at this time, is that the 20% tax on the golden parachutes will go to Acorn.
If that is true I hope that ALL Republican senators and house member vote NO on this bailout.
Money (20%) of proceeds will be sent to the “Capital Magnet Fund “ which from what I have read is now money is given to ACORN, La Raza, etc. Why doesn’t all the money go to the treasury?
Where can we find a mass email list???
ACORN or not I don’t want them stealing my money for any reason.
My Cogressman (Buyer -R IN) had his staff taking phone calls.
Phone yours now!!!
I wish I had a decent Congresscritter! Oh, I wish I lived elsewhere!

Just spoke with an aide in Roy Blunt’s office. Congratulated the Repubs for finally standing up and told him I was totally opposed to the ACORN funding. He thought it had been removed but I told him it was still in the bill posted online. He will “pass the message along.”
That’s why I said I didn’t want anything else in it.
Of course, my rep is not very bright....

I agree.

Thank you. I suspect this is the sort of event that fires up lots of people, not just Freepers and conservatives.

Plus, several campaign supporters are contacting candidate Jim Gilmore to run ads that he is against the bailout. Though he can't vote, he can use it to contrast himeself against Marrk Warner in his campaign.
It does no good to contact Jim Webb nor John Warner. Both are liberals and won't listen to us.
I talked to Boehners office at 4:25 PM CDT Sunday and was ASSURED that all such provisions were REMOVED from the agreement, and that the House Republicans WILL NOT VOTE for a bill that contains such a provision.
Just spoke to Rep. Pat Tiberi’s office (R-OH). The guy said they just received the 100 page bill and they’re reviewing it now. Said his understanding was that the special interest clauses on ACORN and all were taken out. Will see.
Does anyone have a link to the bill?
My congressman (Frelinghuysen) is a RINO.
He goes along to get along, and is reelected every two years.
I gotta get out of New Jersey. It STINKS here.
I live in New York, guess who my representatives are?/Just Asking - seoul62......
