Can you say ‘martial law’? Read up on Honest Abe. Imagine Change a la Obama with that same zeal. Ugly. Bad. Really bad.

Sorry I just don’t see the Earned Income Credit canceling out all the Social Security taxes and sales taxes and gas taxes and property taxes and phone taxes and cable taxes (franchise fees) and school taxes that 95% of all Americans are hit with. You may be right, but I would have to see the proof to agree with you.

If the credit markets seize and the MTM issue remains, how long before bank runs start? I thought they already started with WAMU.

Its the government takeover of all the bad debt in the country and and around the world. And not just bad mortgage debt. All kinds of bad debt. $700 billion is a down payment on this bad debt sludge. No one knows the true cost. It could be in the trillions of dollars.

I think it’s Major Garrett talking on Fox now... talking about Osama speaking to a rally right now. When he mentioned the bailout going to pass, you could hear a pin drop. Even the Obamabots don’t like the bailout.

This is precisely why Obama is staying out of Washington. He doesn't want his fingerprints on whatever bill they come up with.
That is Obama's style. He never votes for or against anything, so he can maintain plausible deniability.

It is the truth. Without a high profile person like McCain to focus attention, the democrats would have passed the entire scam without Republican votes and the media would have buried the story to focus upon assassinating Sarah Palin. That you try to obfuscate that is quite telling.

No one really knows anything right now. Big part of credit market tightness are the very big players--JPM, BofA, Citi--restricting credit to force weaker players to accept takeovers for way less than their firms are actually worth. So net-net, more consolidation is going to happen either way, but the chicken-littles are incorrect that the sky will fall. That's not the game that's being played right now by the big boys in the market.
You don't buy WaMu or Wachovia if they are really insolvent to the tune of tens of billions and you are having capital issues as well.

Where is McCain? He's in the Senate.
The Constitution states that all spending bills must originate in the U.S. House of Representatives.
This is a spending bill. This is the MOTHER OF ALL SPENDING BILLS.
If it doesn't pass the house, it cannot go to the Senate.

Thanks. The Republicans need to force the majority to do this themselves and then let them take the heat for it.

I just emailed my congressman to urge him to stand with the other conservative Republicans in the house to get us a bill with conservative values.

“Its the government takeover of all the bad debt in the country and and around the world.”
LOL, so you didn’t actually read the side by side comparison or the Myth/Fact piece, right? No one is suggesting taking over “all the bad debt in the country and and around the world”.
Your hysteria is obvious. Try reading what is actually being proposed. Try. Then comment on specifics. I look forward to your posts often because you usually think before posting. I hope that returns.

we would rather lose an election than compromise our principle. The market will correct itself. Yes it will hurt short term, but we will come out of it MUCH stronger.
And no doubt if Obama become president, the economy will be in much better shape and unfairly gets the credit for it

Good! Obama has just identified himself with the unpopular corporate welfare scheme in history. Stick a pin in him. He's finished!
