JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.
“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

Is it the law in Missouri that people can be criminally prosecuted for libel/slander? Just asking as I don't know. If so that by itself would seem to be unconstitutional.
Also for public figures the bar is set very high for them to win in libel cases anyway so prosecution in such cases would be almost a waste of public resources. To me this is nothing more than an intimidation tactic directed more at regular citizens than political opponents.

Did you happen to catch the Mxine Waters' recent threat to an oil company executive that she and her party would take over the business if the oil industry doesn't do business the way the democrat party dictates it be done? They keep it up with such open threats and only bullets will end the confrontations!
The re4ason banks were dealing the worthless paper mortgage scam was because the democrat powers threatened them if they didn't accept the extremely perilous pratices of issuing 100% mortgages to anyone requesting same! And some borrowers were given equity loans on property they had just purcahsed at zero down for the full amount, making the second mortgage the means to pay the closing, etc. and consolidate credit debts which would have made normal mortgage borrowing impossible. The clintons and their criminals just keep on giving to the US don'tchaknow!
Excellent because the legal forum is the way to BEGIN the fight against the new brownshirts. If we are successful legally, problem solved.
If the new brownshirts plan to push beyond genuine, honest legal measures, they had better remember the difference between themselves and their moral/intellectual mentors: the old brownshirts served thugs who had managed to get the citizens' guns confiscated. These thugs have not, and they never will be able to get our guns.
I hope it never gets to the point that we would have to use our guns in self defense against brownshirt thugs or dictatorial thugs, but if it becomes necessary, I'm certain we will do so.
How stupid they are, stupid to the very bone, not to have considered this.

• • The shocker: Rezko, a Wilmette businessman who was a top adviser and fund-raiser for Blago, has been locked up at the Metropolitan Correctional Center awaiting an Oct. 28 sentencing — one week before the presidential election.
• • Background: Convicted in June of wide-ranging fraud tied to kickbacks on state deals, Rezko’s involvement in real estate deals with Gov. Blago’s wife, Patti, are also under federal scrutiny.

Don’t forget SCOTUS appointments as well as all other Federal Courts. If elected, he might just reveal himself as the Antichrist. After the first 3 1/2 years would be about right. Just a half year before his first term is up and that is when he REALLY takes control.
Gov. Blunt has the courage that we wish more politicians would have.

McCain blew it last night when he refused to educate the American people on the democrat corruption and cause of this whole mess. HE HAD 100 MILLION VIEWERS WATCHING and he blew it! I am still shaking my head over that one...not to mention teed off!
