A Puppy in Nanning Got Dozens of Kidney Stones: Contaminated Powered Milk Suspected
Ms. Chen, a resident in Nanning, Guangxi Province, has a puppy with repeated serious illness, because, in less than a year, it underwent one surgery after another, taking out kidney stones three times. They numbered a few dozens in total, with varying size.
On Sept. 26, this reporter personally saw the kidney stones taken out from the puppy ten days ago. "They are big stones," said Dr. Lian, the vetenarian, while staring at them.
At present, Ms. Chen has stopped giving the puppy the liquid drink made from powered milk. (Wang Dang)

According to other news articles on the subject, Ms. Chen fed the milk to her puppy for three months because it was not growing well. The milk was from Sanlu and Yilin, two companies which made melamine-contaminated milk.
If you click the following link, it has video. If you watch it, you can see Ms. Chen, her puppy, and the kidney stones kept in a small glass jar, and the vetenarian himself.

The stones went unnoticed until the puppy’s owner bit into one.

It is a miracle that puppy has lived after what he has gone through. Had to go to emergency last fall just for one little kidney stone, let alone dealing with some many of them. I get upset easy when it comes to animals or little children in places like China suffering so greatly this week since I had to put down a beloved cat named Pumpkin due to liver failure at the age of 10. :(=^..^=

He was the cat that had early in the month problems with dyhadration which I thought was over. He did eat but not much, then last weekend he took a turn for the worse, ended up not eating again to the point that he had to be taken to the vet again, had tests and it turn up that he had jaundice, which was a bad sign then on Tuesday morning of this week was given the bad news that he was in liver failure and I went to say goodbye to him before having had him put down. =^..^=

I’m surprised that she spent the money. A lot of people, in China and elsewhere, would simply have had the pet put down.
